The mystery still is what part of England Hurlbuts may have left to come to America.
There is a report on
http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com
that the wife of John Garrett 1649-1708 was Frances Hurlbet.
It shows them born and married in England.
It would be interesting to find records of their emigration.

I believe the name originated in England. I have been trying to trace JOHN HURLBUT of 1683 who lived in Chester Co. Pa. His daughter, Frances, married JOHN Garrett. He was the brother of my ancestor THOMAS Garrett. I'm trying
to find out what part of England they came from in hopes of tracing my Garrett's.
If anybody has any information of this John HURLBUT of Chester Co. Pa. (circ 1680-1720's). This John also had a son who lived in Phila.
Thank you,
Carol
