I am looking for parents and further back of John M. Hursh, born 1812 in Steuben County, NY. He married Elizabeth Brown (b. 9/1819) in Rose Township, Wayne County, NY on 3/22/1837. John was the first settler of Isabella County, Michigan, and homesteaded where Central Michigan University now stands. Elizabeth was the daughter of George and Pamela Brown. Elizabeth's sister Harriet and Harriet's husband, Lewis Jenner, traveled to Michigan at the same time (1852).

I've been in contact with both Sally Hursh and with Diana Yassar; neither had info which would clearly connect John M. to other Hursh's of the period.
