Hello and Failte!!! I think that there could be a very strong possibility that your Joseph is related to our family of Hursts. Robert Hurst and his wife Ann (we don't have a maiden name) had EIGHT sons and two daughters. Sons that came to Canada in 1841 were Samuel, Thomas, George, Robert, Michael and Nicholas. This would mean that two of his sons for one reason or another didn't come to Canada with their parents, nor their daughters. George, for instance, came in 1839. In any event they came to Canada via Syracuse NY, and then to Sandwich East, Essex Co. Ontario. Son Nicholas, who is my ancestor, married Christiana Fairbairn and round about 1855 they sold their farm and went to Brewerton, NY where he died at the age of 36, he was born in about 1833 so just eight when he came here. My family were Church of Ireland (Anglican). They had five of their sons baptized in the parish church there between 1819-1829. I would also like to tell you that my sister wrote to The Kildare Heritage & Genealogy Company and do not rule out Joseph & our family because of what the last paragraph said: "I was unable to locate a marriage record for any Robert Hurst. There are quite a number of Hursts living in this particular parish, BUT the surname does not appear to occur outside of it to any extent." So who knows - I don't have Joseph in my data base, but nothing is written in stone. Keep in touch. Slainte NHC
