Born Dec 1885 in New York and "disappeared" sometime after 1920. The story in the family is that he went out for a pack of smokes and never came home.

At the time, he was married to Jennie Hasbrouck and they had 3 children (Anna Marguerite, Catherine Willetta and William). The children were placed in an orphanage which was recorded in 1920 Census for Rochester, NY.

Any information is appreciated. I don't know who his parents were or any other birth or death information for him.

My Husbands family (now Husband) came from kenmare, Co. Kerry and I have a lot of information on them. My ancestor was George Husbands who came with his family in 1855 to Boston, eventually settling in Weymouth, Mass. I think we can get good information on the family as I believe we are related. Anyone know who J.B. Husbands was? According to one source he was married to Johnnie Gibbs born about 1859. She was the daughter of John W.(William?)Gibbs(1827-1859) and Sarah Frances McNeill(1830-1905)...They lived at some time in Marion County, SC...

Richard Husbands m. Jane Loe/Lowe on 31 Jan 1632 at Saint Dunstan's, Stepney, London. They had children: Jane b. 1650, d. 1651; James will proved 27 June 1673; Richard Jr. will proved 13 Jan 1702.

Nathaniel Jesson/Chesson m. Alice Lowe on 16 Mar 1646 at Saint Dunstan's, Stepney, London. They had children: Mary, Joane, Nathaniel Jr. and one child born after Nathaniel's death at the Battle of the Gabbard.

Correction: Alice was Richard Husband's widowed sister. Richard Husbands MAY have been married to a sister of Gilbert Metcalfe, thus he names him "brother." More research is needed to understand Husbands' relationship to the Metcalfes.

Richard Husband(s), mariner of Stepney, Middlesex, England died leaving a will proved 18 Sept 1660. (National Archives of the UK, PROB 11/301) In his will, Husbands named Gilbert Metcalfe, merchant of London, "his well beloved brother," and sons Richard and James Husbands. Husbands also named his sister Alice Jesson (widow) as executrix. Alice's will is also found in the records of the National Archives of the UK online. Richard Husbands and Gilbert Metcalfe frequently shipped goods from London to VA and Maryland. Gilbert Metcalfe's will was proved in London on 22 Mar 1683 (PROB 11/372) and he left decendants in VA and England.

There is no indication Alice Jesson ever lived in Virginia, but we find this record there: 29 July 1661. We, Alice Jesson of Ratcliffe in County of Middlesex, widow (not widow of Richard), and executrix of the will of Richard Husband [Husbands], late of London, Maryner, dec’d, and Gilbert Metcalfe of London, Merchant, overseer of said will, appoint Robert CARTER of London, Merchant, our attorney to recover of James BRAY, Merchant, now resident in Va., all debts, dues, etc. Owing to said Richard Husband, dec’d. Signed Alice Jesson, Gilbert Metcalfe. Wit: Robert CLEMES, Geo. SEATOWNE [Seaton?], John WHITING, servant to Robert EARLE, Scr. Gilbert Metcalfe's widow, Jane Metcalfe (daughter of merchant mariner William Allen and Jane unknown of Tower Hill, London) named "my Coz. husbands" in a letter dated, 5 Jan 1697, from London to her son Richard Metcalfe in Virginia.

I am looking for information/descendants for William Mansfield Husbands. He was born 9/19/1829 and died 7/26/1902 in Hunt Co, TX. He is buried at Shiloh Cemetery.

We are planning a ceremony to honor Civil War veterans and I am trying to confirm what unit he was with. I think it was the 1st TX Sharpshooters, but I'm not positive. I also need to have contact with some of his descendants, if possible.

Richard HUSBANDS - Mariner of London, d 1661

Richard Husbands of Stepney, Middlesex, England was the captain of the Hopeful Adventure and also The Recovery of London. I am seeking information on his family. He was married to Alice Unknown who remarried after his death in 1661 to a Jesson. He was a close relative of Jane Allen, b. 1640 London, wife of Gilbert Metcalfe, Sr., merchant of London. Jane's father was William Allen of Tower Hill, London, a merchant who traded in tobacco and other goods to Virginia. Her mother was Jane Unknown, possibly Husbands. Gilbert Metcalfe, Sr. helped prove Husbands' will.

Richard Husbands may have had five sons and two daughters, two of whom may have been Thomas and Richard Husbands, Jr. who traded in Virginia. In 1658, Richard had 1000 acres at Elk Point, Kent Island, Maryland.

I would be glad to share information.

I'm descended from an Anna Husbands b. abt 1853 in Ireland. Her parents were Charles Husbands & Margaret Coffey.

Annie was living in Kenmare (specifically Sneem) when she married Michael Sullivan in 1872. They immigrated to the U.S. about 1883 where they settled in Quincy, Massachusetts.

Other than Annie, I haven't been able to find anything about this Husbands family. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the family of Charles & Margaret Husbands, or Husbands from Sneem.

I have John Husbands b. 5 Oct 1829 the son of Thomas Jefferson Husbands and his wife Elizabeth Kelly. I have always wondered if he could have been Thomas' younger brother but it looks like he might be Thomas' nephew. Thomas did have a brother John who was born in 1796. Hi Marlene, thank you for the information on the Husbands. I have been searching for a long time , to find out who Herman Husbands first wife was. The dates on the deeds that you you have, make me wonder if Emey was his first wife!!! Her name seems to be on the earlier deed. I had thought that the first wife was named Mary, but didn't know her last name. Thanks for the offer of the deed record, I may take you up on that.

My ggg-grandmother was Franscina/Franscine Husbands, b. c.1789; she married in Rowan Co., NC in 1814; I don't know where she fits in the line since I haven't been successful in finding her parents. In my research, I've come across these deed records that may help you:

Hermon Husbands & wife Emey of Orange Co., NC, 320 A. in Rowan Co. in Jan. 1767

Hi, I have been researching the Husband family for a while. Have been trying to find out who Herman Husbands first wife was. My GGGGrandmother Mary Husband, was his daughter by the first wife. They had three children. I have been told that she was a Cox, but I can't prove it. They must have been married in Maryland. or Pa. His Second wife was Mary Pugh, the third was Amy Allen. Any information you may have , would be so appreciated.

The Herman Husbands whom you seek may be the same Herman Husbands who is written up in Samuel Elliot Morrison's History of the American People. This man is my 4-5 great grandfather and is a character of the Revolutionary War era in NC. He fled NC in the early 1770's, going to PA, his place of origin. There he led the whiskey rebellion in post-war PA, battling against the federal govt. right to tax the production of whiskey.

My further ancestors from his line are James, father of Elliot, who is father of en, who is my father. All three of these men are buried in the cemetary outside Foreston, Clarendon Co. SC. My father was born 5/9/1899, which means Herman is my great or great-great grandfather.

My brother is Herman Hamilton Huasbands. This name appears in several listings within this web site. Ex: H. Hamilton Husbands 1864-1888, born Concord, Delaware Co,, PA is the son of Daniel Husbands and Anna Johnson Husbands, who were married 11/22/1855.

My sister has the family lineage back many generations. I have asked her to send it to me so I can share it. If memory serves, the Husbands entered the New World at the colony of Maryland. This is referenced in the material on which I am waiting from my sibling. There is a Robert Husband who was born in Cecil Co. MD, whose parents are givben as John Husbands and Mary Veazey, both born about 1720 in England.

When I have the definitive material, I will share it via this site. I have the impression that there are further family listings in England bafck some generations, though I cannot imagine who did the research since the SC Husbands of the 19th century were dirt farmers with 1 mule and a two-room cabin. My dad, God bless him, was the first generation to go to university.

I have Wm. Husband(s) married to Sally (possibly Sarah) Watkins. He was born 5, Jan, 1757 in Anson, NC and died Greensborough, Green Co. AL. I am descended from their son, Elija, b. 1800.

Jane E. Husbands was definitely at least part Choctaw Indian. I have a photo of her. That means that Elizabeth Kelly must have had some Choctaw Indian. I would really like to know more about her.

Your John Alexander was probably named after the family name "John" and his uncle Alexander".

My g.grandmother was JANE E. HUSBANDS the only daughter in the family. She married my g.grandfather Timothy Tims (Thames).

I am looking for information on my g-grandfather John Alexander Husbands. He was married to Margaret Katie Borah. My grandfather was their son Edgar Nathanial Husband and I know of one brother Charles Albert Husband. Both born Hinds County, Mississippi. Edgar's SS application says his birth date is 7-22-1897 and it looks like on Charles Albert Husband was born 2-28-1895. I know that their parents were divorced and Margarete Borah Husband married a Mr. Jenkins.For some unknown reason Edgar Nathanial started using the name of Edward Nathanial Harris at the age of 13 and had his name legally changed on August 30,1924 in the County Court of Madison County,TN.
