I do not remember if I have already responded to this, guess that is part of being old enough to remember things from 50+ years ago, but not remembering what I had for breakfast. I am Tom Charron. Son of Marie Charron and Grandson of Ananias Huskins. I have the family tree traced back through Phoebe and Eli Huskins, (parents of Arnold B. Huskins), I can point you to a lot of info about Charron's , Eckert's, Huskins, Lolling's Whiteman's and Holda's as these are all families of my mothers' brothers and sisters. I also have a lot of information about Etta huskins, who was Arnold's daughter and my grand father's sister. I would be happy to provide the info I have, and would appreciate anything before Eli and Phoebe. dcctwc@aol.com 912-778-4443
Charles Samuel "Samuel H" Huskins married Eliza Carolina "Carrie" Huskins who was his first cousin.

Charles's father was Horace and Eliza's father was Jacob. Horace and Jacob were brothers.

In the 1870 census Horace, George, and Jacob Huskins all live under one roof. I cannot find anything on George except that census.

In the 1880 census Horace is widowed, so he married someone between 1870 and 1880 who died, and supposedly had 3 children with her and they are: James, Anna, and Charlie[1879]. The 1880 census is almost un-readable. The only one that I could read was Charlie's, the other children I do not know when they were born.

Anyway, yes I'm Julia's daughter. I remember grandma and mom mentioning the Dermody name many years ago. I can send you what information I have. What is your wife's name?

Hi Lorna,
Am I ever glad to meet you! Ron Huskins and I are working on this Huskins line and we had no idea about the information in this posting. We REALLY would like to work with you on this. His e-mail address is: ronbob1259@aol.com . Mine is: jeanmayo@comcast.net . I also lived most of my life in Connecticut and was born there and I wouldn't mind doing research for you there. Could you e-mail both Ron and me every bit of your Huskins research to date so that we can all work on it together? I think each of us can make great strides if we work together. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Jean Mayo.

Have managed to trace back my mother's family to a John Huskins who married Susannah Jones 24/8/1828 at St Martin's, Birmingham.

Has anyone any further info on this? There were Huskins in Kingsbury in the 18th century but I don't know if there is a link and who John's parents were.
Jim,
I just noticed an obituary for Thelma Huskins born in Yancey Co to the late Clyde and Mollie Ray Huskins. I'm sure I remember my parents talk about him. Do you know if he's related to a Claude Huskins that married Agnes Everheart Drayne. She was born Apr 16, 1910 to John and Margaret McHone Drayne. Thought I'd post it here instead of e-mailing you direct so others could use the info too. I grew up in Marion but have been gone 40 years.

Ron,
The info I have came from a binder book on the Lewis'. It reads :
Warren Stainer Lewis married Elizabeth Margaret A. [Huskins] Buckman on Long Island
dec 24,1857.
She was born on Brier Island feb 23,1834.
However, according to the next census, Micheal Thomas was living in the old Huskins place. That tells me that soon after she was born they moved. So now I'm, trying to figure out where to?
I recently tried to acquire her death certificate but New Brunswick didn't atart keeping good records until about 1920.-she died in 1916 in Victoria county,NB.
I have an idea where she is buried and when the snow is gone I have relatives in NB that are going grave hunting.
According to family records she was of loyalist ancestry.
Harley suggested that I try the probate wills as when her husband {Buckman died) the will would have gone into probate. I don't know how to check the probate records, so that's not helping.
Elizabeth was 23 when she married Warren so if she were married before that if wasn't for long. I'm also truing to look at records of death of Buckman's for maybe 5 years before that time period.
I appreciate your help.
She is one of the last elusive ancestors I have to peg down.
We know that there's always room for error on records.
Thanks,
Gayle

Huskins - Fisher

Alright, here's what I know.

In Cherokee County, NC, lived a widow named Matilda J. Fisher. Fairly certain its her married name, don't know her maiden name. In 1880, she (age 57) is listed as living with her grandson, Doctor M. Fisher (21); in 1870, she is 50, and he is listed as Doc Huskins (15). In 1860, living with Matilda (age 40; born in Lincoln County, NC) are David Fisher (23; Lincoln Co, NC), Eliza Huskins (25; Burke Co, NC), and Doctor M Huskins (6; Cherokee Co, NC).

So two scenarios present themselves to me.

In Scenario 1, Eliza Huskins is originally Eliza Fisher; David is her brother, and Matilda her mother. Meaning that she married a Huskins, who subsequently died/left.

In Scenario 2, Eliza was "with" David Fisher, and Doctor was from a previous marriage or born out of wedlock. So either Eliza's maiden name or her first husband's name was Huskins.

(Obviously, Scenario 1 would be much easier to deal with, but you never know.)

Anyway... if anyone happens to have a connection of the Huskins & Fisher families, in western NC, pre-Civil War, please feel free to write or reply. :)

Steph Mabie
