I can only add an FYI (belatedly). I've been reviewing information on-line about the 3 HUTCHINSON siblings from Winchester, MA, who moved to Brooklyn, NY, during 1850's. And, the brother, John B. HUTCHINSON, and his wife, Ruthy (WYMAN), had 3 children. John W. HUTCHINSON, b~1840, Edward B. HUTCHINSON, b~1843, and Sarah R. HUTCHINSON, b~1846. In 1870 John & Ruthy, and children, Edward & Sarah were still at home.
In 1880, the son, John W. HUTCHINSON, was married to Gertrude (unknown). The census says she was born in Vermont ! She was also b~1840. So far, I can only find that they had 2 daughters, Ruth L. HUTCHINSON, Age 7, in 1880, and Margaret HUTCHINSON, Age 4, in 1880.
(They had probably Gertrude's nephew, Louis P. SCOTT, 21, born VT, living with them.)
By 1900, Mrs. Gertrude HUTCHINSON was listed as a widow. She was 59. And it says she was born 5/1841 in VT. Her 2 daughters were in their 20's, and were still single.
... I can't find much on-line about these families in Brooklyn, after 1900. And, I wish New York records were a little more genealogy-friendly. Perhaps a marriage record for John and Gertrude around 1870 would show more information about Gertrude's family.
