Mrs. Sam Hutchinson
Mrs. Garrie Griswold Hutchinson, wife of the Yakima County Sheriff, died last night at her home in Broadway. She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Lettie E. Cleary of Spokane, a sister, Mrs. Pearson and a half-brother Clyde Griswold, as well as by the immediate family circle of her husband and five children, Mrs. Leo Kemper of Toppenish, Mrs. J. Earl Thornton of Yakima, Miss Lois Hutchinson of Los Angeles and two sons, Jerome and Robert, at home.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3:30 at the Shaw-Huston Chapel, with funeral sermon by Rev. Floyd J. Mynard of St. Michael's Episcopal Church. Miss Lucille Berthon, a close personal friend of Mrs. Hutchinson's three daughters will sing some of the hymns best liked by Mrs. Hutchinson. The body will be cremated at Seattle, in accordance with Mrs. Hutchinson's own wish.
Mrs. Hutchinson was born in September 1871, in Minnesota and was married 29 years ago. The family came to Sunnyside in 1906 and lived there until Mr. Hutchinson was elected sheriff, when they moved to Yakima. During her residence here and in Sunnyside, Mrs. Hutchinson made a great number of friends and was looked upon as a substitute mother by many of the members of the Business Girls' Club, in which she took great interest on account of her daughter's connection with it. Mrs. Cleary came in time to say goodbye to her daughter, but Miss Lois Hutchinson, hurrying north, will not arrive until this evening. Mrs. Hutchinson greatly hoped that she would live until her youngest daughter came.
