Hello,

I did a little more on-line looking yesterday, and found the young, John HUTCHINSON, Age 10, in the 1860 census for Boston. He and 20+ other children were in the "Church Home for Orphans and Destitute Children" in "South Boston." (I think that Home existed up past 1900.)

As with several orphanages from 1800's, it is almost impossible to locate those old records. (Even though "The Temporary Home for Women & Children" in Boston still exists, I've written twice to ask about my grandmother's time there from 1899 to 1909. No response.)

I wish the 1850 census for MA (or Boston) was available on-line. Johnny's parents might be listed. I haven't found them, yet.

Betty (near Lowell, MA)
