My GGgrand parents came to the US from England in 1853 on a ship named Jane. They landed in Mobile bay and settled in Griggsville, Ill. In the late 1800's they moved to Jackson county kansas, lived with one of their sons until each passed. They were taken back to Griggsville for burial. I can't find obits for either, or the cemetery in Griggsville. Would also like to find where in England they were born, and parents.... I am at that brick wall and can't find my way over it. If anyone can help,it would be greatly appreciated.
Mike

Hi

Emma Hutchinson married John Reveley in 1874 at Tynemouth northumberland england,

On looking on various census for england have found emma at 134 bowes street cowpen northumberland. I noticed another surname Hunter underneath surname Hutchinson. I found Emmas mother Janet Hunter but cannot find Emmas father. Janet I noticed was in workhouse in Hartley northumberland in 1841 census and is down as a pauper. I also noted that Emma had 3 younger siblings born pre-1841 but no mention of them on the 1841 census for the workhouse. I wondered if anyone had any information about this family as I am totally confused on this matter. I also found a Jane Dawson and wondered whether she was Janet Hunter. Please help me.

grateful for ever if anyone can help lorraine x
Jacob Gist was in fact Marie Hutchinsons husband. Gist road of los gatos is named after him, he and his wife had a winery , they are listed in an old phone book at the Los Gatos library. He left his family back east in 1869 found land with a school grant and married Marie, she might have opened the first school in Los Gatos.Jacobs family hired an attorney after he passed away thinking they were entitled to some of the large estate but the fees were to high .I have the attorneys letter. I think their marriage lasted two years, I have photos of them both. Who was Marie Hutchinson?

Looking for ANY information on Ralph and Jane (Hutchinson) Hutchinson. They married in 1880 in England and immigrated to the United States about 1882/1883. Their son John was born in England in 1882 (or so). Seven children were born of this union. John, Thomas, Mary and four unknown? They lived in Williamsville, IL, (Springfield area), Taylorville, IL and Witt, IL. I think they divorced and she later married Albert Clouser. She is buried in Wolf Creek Cemetery, Sangamon County, IL. She does not have a stone. Ralph was a coal miner and so was his son John.

Hi again. I forgot to ask whether you have census information for your John HUTCHINSON. IF he lived in NYC as a child, he should show up in the 1870 and 1880 census records. IF he was only there as an adult, he should be in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census. (I can't check the 1930 census.)

Betty (near Lowell, MA)

www.familysearch.org for the 1880 census for free

Hello. I can't help with your exact question. But, I can mention my HUTCHINSON ancestors who were from 1700's Charlestown, MA / Woburn, MA (which became Winchester, MA). 6 siblings were born there in the 1820 timeframe. Around 1850 the oldest, John HUTCHINSON, and 2 of his married sisters moved to Brooklyn, NY. As far as I know, the 3 couples remained there and had businesses there. And their children were there, but I know very little about the children. Whatever I know was found from census records in Brooklyn.

The information about these couples is in the archives of the List for Brooklyn, NY. (Or, in the archives of the MA Lists.)

By the way, I'd love to find a living descendant of my John HUTCHINSON. Of the Winchester, MA, HUTCHINSON Farm, I'd like to find out if there is a male descendant still alive.

Betty (near Lowell, MA)

P.S. At this moment I don't remember whether I offered information on the Winchester families on this Board.

Hello. "The Winthrop Fleet" was just discussed on the State of Maine List. So, I'd like to offer some sites to remind people of the 11 ships in that Fleet:

http://www.packrat-pro.com/ships/winthrop.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winthrop_Fleet

There are other web sites and a few books telling of this Fleet.

Thomas HUTCHINSON was the brother of my ancestor, George HUTCHINSON. They traveled together, and the record says they came from London. George traveled with his wife, and Thomas traveled with his wife and children. Unfortunately, Thomas died on the ship, either just before or just after it arrived.

There is much discussion about his widow, Mrs. Ann HUTCHINSON. Please see the archives of the Lists and Boards about this.

One of my genealogy frustrations is that no "HUTCHINSON book" has ever been written about the descendants of these 2 brothers. * But, I have found out that a few people have good data bases about their descendants.

George settled in Charlestown, MA, where a son, Nathaniel, was born a year or 2 later. That was his only child, but Nathaniel had many children. George settled in the area which became Woburn, MA. But, from 1720 on, his descendants settled in the part of Woburn which much later became Winchester, MA. The "HUTCHINSON Farm" existed from 1720's until the present day. (However, at some point around 1800 (?), the farm was divided in half - across the street from each other were 2 farmhouses. One half was sold off in 1950's; the other still stands.

Betty (near Lowell, MA)

This should help:
Your Ezra is the son of Charles B. Hutchinson and Rebecca E. Butler. It appears that Charles B. Hutchinson was the son of Ezra C. Hutchinson and Roxey M. Allen. (I believe the M. stands for Marilla/Merilla or some variation as she uses Roxy and Merilla/Marilla in various census). Ezra and Roxey were married in Kane County, Illinois 17 April 1849. You can find this on LDS microfilm #1481107 and on Ancestry as well as the Illinois State Archives on line.

From census, Ezra C. Hutchinson and Roxey probably had at least 5 children: Alvin, Sarah M., Hiram, Isabella, and Charles. Ezra appears to have died between the 1860 and 1870 census. They can be found in Stack County, Illinois census in 1850 and in Holland, LaCrosse Co., Wisconsin census in 1860. Marilla and Hiram and Charles are in Onalaska, LaCrosse, Wisconsin in 1870.

Note: Rebecca Butler is living with her family, in Nelson, Buffalo County, WI in 1870. You said you found Charles and Rebecca and baby Ezra in 1880, her parents are the Isaac and Christina Butler enumerated with them.

Rebecca apparently died by 1894 as Charles remarried to Augusta Zabel on Jan 6, 1894. Charles is indexed in the Nelson, Buffalo Co, WI 1895 state census. In the household are 4 males and 3 females. 6 of the people were born in the US and 1 was born in Germany. (That is Augusta)

Also in 1895, Ezra Hutchinson and Hiram Hutchinson are enumerated in the Minnesota state census, Wabasha county.(Wabasha Co. MN is just over the border from Buffalo Co. WI) They are living in separate households and listed as student and school boy, respectively.

Charles and Augusta are living in Onalaska, La Crosse, WI in 1900 (states married for 7 years) with daughters Vernona and Esther but have moved to SD by 1901. They are enumerated in the 1905 SD State census in Brown County, as living in SD for just 4 years. Living with them are sons from the first marriage, Hiram and Edmund and Esther, a daughter from the second marriage. Vernona is enumerated in the SD school for the deaf. By 1910 census, Charles and Augusta also had a third child, Frank. (1910 Brown County, SD census states married for 17 years and a second marriage for both of them.)

Charles appears to have died in Brown Co, SD 21 Dec 1910, certificate #23551.

In 1915, Ezra and Edna and their children are living in Brown County, SD and then by 1930 they are back in Minnesota.

One thing I noticed about Charles B. Hutchinson regarding info on where his parents were born: He seems to be guessing. In 1880 he states both born in PA and by 1900 he has changed to Mother born in NY and father born in Scotland! He sticks with that in 1910. I wonder if because his father died when he was young, he just didn't know where his father was born? Birth states on Ezra C. and Roxey Hutchinson varies from Connecticut(in 1860) to New York(in 1850).

I hope you can make sense of this. Do not hesitate to contact me for clarifications and more info.

Any information you can give me would be much appreciated.

I'm not a very professional researcher (but have become quite passionate about the subject) and so I'm not sure of exactly what you mean by genealogy reports but if you give me an idea of what you'd like, I'm happy to exchange (although by the sounds of it you have much more information on the Hutchincon's then I do).

Thanks again
Trish

Hi all:

As a follow up to this inquiry I have now partly solved the mystery of this family. The critical document to solve it was the will of John Hutchinson who died in 1824. According to that document my great great great grandmother, Mary Hutchinson was their daughter with the following brothers and sisters: John, Willam (who married Susanna Law), Francis, Ann (who married John Harrison), Jane (who married John Robinson) and Elizabeth (who married Thomas Walker).

Still trying to figure out how Matthew Hutchinson who was in Canada with them fits into the picture?

Full details on the problem can be found through the link below. Would love to hear from anyone researching these families:

http://harrisonfamilyhistory.blogspot.com/2009/03/hutchinson...

Thank you

Michael

Hello:

My Hutchinsons come from the Egton/Glaisdale area. I note that your inquiry was posted almost 3 years ago. Just wondering if you have any more information on them. You can see my Hutchinson line here:

http://harrisonfamilyhistory.blogspot.com/2009/03/hutchinson...

Michael

How about Thomas Hutchinson m Anne BROWNE. They came to Mass in 1629 or 30 with the Winthrope Fleet. He either died on board or soon after arrival. Her father's name was Edward and mom was Jane Lide. Any hints?

A Hutchinson line of descent

Thomas Hutchinson (born ca. 1525-30) married Barbara Allenson; His son Thomas Jr. (b. ca. 1540) married 18th January 1579 Janet Armstrong; his son Robert, b. 20th October 1579, md. 3rd January 1606 Agnes Moreland. Those are the first three generations of a 10-generation line of descent I have, from Thomas Hutchinson Sr, down to the 1920's. If anyone is interested in getting a copy, get in touch with me at gumball75@gmail.com, and I'll send it along as an upload.

Cheers,

Peter Spencer

I'm going to spend some time digging through it and getting the sources recorded.

I really had no idea that Charles remarried, don't think anyone in the family that's still around knew either.

Looking for some information on my family roots back a few generations, there seems to be not much in the family to go on and the few death certificates I manage don't help too much. I know the births started in Wisconsin, they moved to South Dakota, and then some ended up here in Minnesota.

My great grandfather:
Ezra Isaac HUTCHINSON - B: 08 AUG 1879 Nelson, WI
D: 19 AUG 1949 St Paul, MN

His wife:
Edna Sarah GAGNIER - B: 09 JUN 1882 St Paul, MN
D: 29 APR 1966 St Paul, MN

Ezra had two brothers that I know of, Hiram C. and Edmund Alanson.

According to Ezra's Death Certificate his parents were:

Chas. (perhaps Charles?)HUTCHINSON - B: Beaver Dam, WI

Rebecca BUTLER - B: Pennsylvania

I'm unable to find anything else beyond Ezra other than these names and so I'm stuck. I did find one census from 1880 that lists Charles, Rebecca, and Ezra HUTCHENSON, but that is it.
