I would not be overly concerned with the MO vs. IRE on the census. I have been doing research for over 14 years and in my experience census takers are known for making errors and people often gave misinformation to the census taker for whatever reason. There have been times throughout history when it was not socially acceptable to have a particular ancestry.

Here is the child from the first marriage. This is the info from her marriage license.
Missouri Marriage Records, 1805-2002
about Ruth Hutchison
Name: Ruth Hutchison
Marriage Date: 20 Feb 1934
Marriage Location: Chillicothe, Livingston, Missouri
Marriage County: Livingston
Spouse Name: Ray Lindon Rupe
Mother's Name: Mrs. Charles Hutchison
Father's Name: Mr. Hutchison

The only thing that concerns me about this one is that he indicates his mother b. MO, not Ireland, as he does in the next census. For those who knew him, he was obviously raised in an Irish household. . . . . But, it sure does look like him otherwise.

And, yes, it was likely to be at LEAST a second marriage.

My Charles Lee HUTCHISON was born ca 1852, MO. I have no clue to his parents names, nor years of birth. Charles father was born KY (according to census records) and his mother was born Ireland. That is ALL I have. Heck, I searched for 15 to 20 years simply to find out my grandfather's name! Dad would not talk about him . . .

Hello! My mother's side of the family had lived in Downey from the 1960's, 70's, and so on. My grandfather is Glen Hutchison and he owned All American Markets with his brothers Blayne, Carl, Jack and I believe there was one more. My mother's name is Mary Louise Hutchison and her maternal grandparents lived in Downey. Their names were Carolyn and Lynn Walker. I was born in 1967 (Downey Community Hospital) and by then all my grandpa's brothers were gone except for him. He passed away about 10 years or so ago.

Hello! I was so pleased to see your posting. My mother's side of the family all lived in Downey, CA during the 1960's, 70's, and so on.
My grandpa, Glen Hutchison, and his brothers (I can only remember the names Blayne, Carl, Jack right now)owned "All American Market" grocery chain and one of them was in Downey. From what my grandpa had told me all his brothers had passed away very young between the ages of 45-50 years old. I believe he was pretty much retired when I was born in 1967 ( Downey Community Hospital) Fortunately, for me, I was able to enjoy spending time with him until I was way into adulthood up until he passed away about 10 years or so ago. (Age 80 years old or so) My mother's maiden name is Mary Louise Hutchison. Her maternal grandparents also lived in Downey and were Carolyn and Lynn Walker.

My gfather, Charles Lee HUTCHISON, was born MO, but census indicates his father born KY and his mother born Ireland. Unfortunately I do not have the names of either of his parents. Is there ANYTHING in there indicating a Charles Lee HUTCHISON. My father was John Charles HUTCHISON. Our branch of HUTCHISON were all MO born back to Charles Lee's father.

John

I am sorry to report there is neither a Samuel Hutchison nor any of the other names you mention in our family bible.

The earliest ancestor we have listed in John Hutchison who was probably born in Ireland. The bible reads,
Deaths
John Hutchison Dec. 2, 1916 (age 80yrs. 9mos.)

Our Hutchison family locations were: Ireland/Scotland; Graves, Marshall, KY; Smiths, Marshall, KY; and finally Louisville, Jefferson, KY.

Best of luck to you in your search.
Jeanette

WOW! I would love to see what you have on "Uncle Robbie" and family, including the pics of him and the family.

According to my mom, Robert was never discussed. Matter of fact it wasn't until the mid 1970's that my mother even knew he was her real grandfather. My great grandmother kept it a secret even from my grandmother for many, many years.

From what I have been able to piece together, he married my Great grandmother, Linnie Mae Hamar about 1909 and they lived in Atlanta. My grandmother was Elizabeth Rymski, born in May 1910. Her name when she was born was Emma Neal Hutchison. After Linnie and Robert divorced, between 1911-1912, Linnie remarried and my grandmother was adopted my Leon Rymski.

Robert evidently was a traveling actor and went 1st to NYC working with Bybee Stock Co. He was also a traveling salesman. Somewhere along the line he remarried, I believe Florence Jefferies, supposedly from Chicago. He died Dec 28, 1922 in Pittsburg. I don't know how. He is buried in Northview Cemetery in Atlanta.

I did find his WWI Draft registration dated May 24, 1917. He was claiming exemption because of "serious ?" word is unreadable to me.

That is about all I know about the Hutchison family. So anything you can fill in for me would be greatly appreciated.

If you want to you can reach me at debbyfinkle@att.net.

Thanks for answering my message.

Debby Finkle
Robert Neal Hutchison (Uncle Robbie) was my great-uncle. He had four sisters: Emma Neal Heery, Loula Wiles Nixon (my grandmother), Willie Belle Green, and Ruby Wiles Crowell. There were five other children but they did not survive. I lost track of him after the 1910 US Census. I have one or two photos of him in an old family album. I know little about him but a lot about his father and mother and sisters as I grew up in Atlanta near my grandmother and Willie Belle and Emma which I will be happy to share.HyG

I seem to be from a different group of Hutchisons, from the same time, in eastern Tennessee. I suspect that you have found a lot of information about my Hutchisons while looking for yours, and I wonder if you could tell me about what you have found about them. Joseph Hutchison probably was born around 1780 to 1790; lived in Greene County, Tennessee, starting when that area was part of the colony of North Carolina; married Eve Cook Smith in 1802; had a brother named William; had, among other children, a son also named Joseph born in 1801; and died in the War of 1812. The son named Joseph married Rachel Myers, in 1853 moved to Missouri with his ten children and their families, and reportedly lived until 1900). Do you know about any pre-1800 information about them?

I found some information at http://www.genealogyforyou.com/usa/tennessee/greene/queries/...:
"HUTCHISON:
Looking for the descendants or other information on any of the children of Joseph HUTCHISON[17??-1812] /Eve Cook Smith [b/ 17??] m.1802 in Greene Co. These children were named in his Will: John L., Nancy, William, and Polly. Joseph's brother William was assigned as guardian to the children after Joseph's death during War of 1812 when Joseph was 11. Would like to correspond with anyone regarding these or any other HUTCH( )SONs of Greene Co.
Terry L. Hutchison tlhutch@soback.kornet.nm.kr
Tue Aug 26 07:17:20 1997"
(I interpret this as saying that the father of Joseph (b. 1801) was also named Joseph, and he was killed in the War of 1812. The father Joseph married the son Joseph's mother, Eve Cook Smith, in 1802. Since this post is 12 years old, Terry Hutchison may have a lot more information now.)
Replying to one of the other replies: My grandfather, Robert Clay Hutchison, Sr., and my and great-grandfather, Perry Lorenzo Hutchison, lived in Chamois, MO, in Osage County. Robert C. later lived in Iowa, where my father (C. Bryce H.) was born, and in Maplewood, Missouri.
(I am the same person as khutchison, above; the site would not let me log in with my previous informaton.)

Please excuse me if this duplicates something else I have posted. These boards, threads, copies of posts on other web sites, etc. are confusing. There are Hutchison boards, Greene County, boards, etc. I see the some of the same names, including yours, in different places.
I am descended from James Frank H., a different son of Joseph and Rachel. (My cousin Anita Doering has also posted at least one thing on this site.) I am still looking for information earlier than 1801. Thanks.
Kenneth Hutchison
(Of course, as we all know, there is no "chin" in Hutchison.)

Photograph? I have never seen that. Aside from a trip to the National Archives in the 1970s (I think), all the searching I have done has been by Google. I suspect that you have a lot of information I don't have. Do you have information about people before Joseph and Rachel Hutchison? (Am I right that Joseph and Eve Cook Smith were his parents and George Myers was her father?) I would really like to see the picture. If you can email a copy of any quality, please use my user name above at comcast dot net.
Kenneth C. Hutchison
Gaithersburg, MD formerly suburban St. Louis, MO

I have a photocopy of what may well be the same Hutchinson history, though unfortunately I'm missing the first page. It was published in the Vicksburg Semi-Weekly Commercial newspaper of Vicksburg, Michigan, on September 5, 1913. The article name is "Annual Reunion of the Krader, Fisher Hutchinson Families."

I made it through typing 1/3 of the Hutchinson article before I got tired. Will try to follow up with the remainder. If anyone does have the first page of the
article, I would appreciate it!

=======================================================
ANNUAL REUNION OF THE KRADER, FISHER, HUTCHINSON FAMILIES
(Continued from Page One.)
----
son, vix: John, William, Andrew and George. The five sons of the original scattered, one or more going to North Carolina, and from there into Kentucky; one, suppsoed to be George, was reported killed by the Indians; one is said to have removed to Washington county, Penn.

One of these, the first name not known, is the father of William and James. He settled in Lower Mt. Bethel township, Northampton county, Penn., and later removed into New Jersey, near the town of Belvidere. The sons, William and James, settled in Center township, Columbia county about the year 1794. Here William married Miss Elizabeth Aikman, Jan 24, 1799. This union was blessed with nine children, viz: James, born Nov. 14th, 1799; Jane, born May 25th, 1801, Thomas Jefferson, born Sept. 27, 1803; John,
born April 16, 1805; Elizabeth, born March 20, 1808; William, born Sept. 30, 1810; Leva A., born March 1, 1816; Samuel Hend., born April 12, 1819.

The said William and Elizabeth lived and raised their family in among the valleys and mountains of Center township, Columbia county, Penn., and when death claimed the mother in 1835 and the father in 1839, they were laid to rest in a little country cemetery, known as the Hydley cemetery.

The eldest son, James, remained at home until in the late spring or early summer of 834 [sic] when he started for the then far west. He had an Indian pony and a wagon with some of his black smith tools and surveyors' outfit, started on his trip to Michigan. All went well as travelers of
those days expected until he arrived near Detroit, when the pony was taken sick and died. Then, with the purchase of another horse he resumed his journey. He then made his choice of land covered with the giant oaks. He worked at his trades and on May 11th, 1837, he wed Miss Rose Ann Fortner, who was working for a family near the village of Schoolcraft. Then they started on their honeymoon trip by the horse and wagon route to his farm and while he cut the trees she piled and burned the brush to lay the foundation and build the log cabin of home and happiness. This union was blessed with three sons, viz: Stephen D., Oliver Perry and Ransom, with whom they had to part when about for [sic] and a half months old. The father's death occured in 1866 and the mother's in 1886 on the farm where they began
their honeymoon.

O. Perry grew to manhood and passed out in the prime of life in 1868. Stephen married Miss Albina Beckwith on January 11th, 1874. One daugther, Miss Sina, came to bless this union, who with her mother lives on the farm of her grandfather's choice. Stephen died June 21, 1894.

Jane Hutchinson always lived in the old Keystone state and married John Brown and was the mother of three children, Hiram, Elizabeth and Margaret. Hiram married Miss Elizabeth Conner and to this union were born two sons and
one daughter. One son, Eber and the adughter [sic] Hannah, are still living. Eber's family consists of a wife and son, Claude C. Hannah married Harry Black and is the mother of six children. Elizabeth married Wm. Hill
and was the mother of a large family, who live in different parts of Pennsylvania. She departed from this life about the year 1903. Margaret married H. F. Freese and moved and lived in Chicago, Ill., and was the mother of a large family. She passed away March 3rd, 1913.

Thomas Jefferson Hutchison always remained in the good old Quaker state and in 1830 he married Miss Sarah Fowler and to this union were born six children, viz: Hiram, John F. Mary E., David William James B. and Sophia C., and on October 7, 1854 he laid his faithful wife in her last resting place and his death occurred April 25, 1885.

On June 21st, 1860, Hiram Hutchison and Miss Mary A. Bowmn [sic] were united in wedded bliss. The wife died on September 3, 1904, leaving one daughter, Etta, living with her father in Hazelton, Penn.

John F. Hutchison married Miss Rebecca Bright in December, 1855 and in March, 1859, she died, leaving one son, William, and when about 20 years of age he passed out of this life. Then John F. Hutchison married in 1860 Miss
Esther Bright and the following children now living were born to them, viz: Margaret, who married J. H. Knorr; Sarah, who married William Niekard; James, who married Miss Utt; Dora, who married John Kitchen; and Anna, who
married Horas Bellas. These have all remained in among the peaceful valleys and mountains of Pennsylvania and in September 884 [sic], the father, John F. Hutchinson was laid in his last resting place. On January 19. 1861, Miss
Mary E. Hutchinson married Wm. Hagenbuch, and this union was blessed with five children of whom three are living: Clara E., Boyd H. and Eva. Clara was married to James E. Reichard; Boyd H. Hagenbuch is married and has one
daugther, born January 19, 1911, and Eva married Corriel Hess, November 15, 1902.

The son is living in Mottville and is the father of two daughters.

One son, John, settled near White Pigeon, married and was the father of three children, one son and two daughters.
Just so you know, I got a "failure to deliver" notice when I tried to email Terry Hutchison. I did find more on that will at http://genforum.com/freshour/messages/218.html (enclosed in brackets below)

[In George Cook, Jr's. 1815 will, he wrote the following:

". . . my beloved children George Cook, Henry Cook, Jacob Cook, John Cook, Christian Cook, Mary Meloy, Elizabeth Cook, and Eve Hutchinson's children so that Eve Hutchinson's children shall only have part amongst them, and it is my will that a note which I now hold on my beloved son Jacob Cook for one hundred and Eleven dollars or thereabouts be deducted out of his part and it is also my will that a note which I hold on Joseph Hutchinson for fifty six dollars be deducted out of his part, allowed to his wife Eve Hutchinson's children."

So, from this we can conclude that Eve Hutchinson was a daughter and the she died before George died in 1815.

According to Greene Co, TN marriage records, Eve Smith married Joseph Hutchinson on 24-Mar-1802 in Greene Co, TN.]

This uses the "Hutchinson" variation of the name, and still doesn't mention a young Joseph, as far as I can tell.
"there is no "chin" in Hutchison" I'll have to remember that one, Kenneth. I hadn't heard it. :) No, I haven't found any more info on Joseph prior to 1800, except what you've put here about the Joseph who died in the War of 1812 and his wife. If I find out any more, I'll be sure to post it.

Donna
http://donnaparker.w4aw.org

Thanks for that link. I went and looked at it, though, and didn't see any reference to a younger Joseph. I don't know why I didn't see what you saw???

Sounds like this should be my family. Maybe the War-of-1812-Joseph was mine's father, but maybe Eve wasn't his mother and little Joseph got shuffled off someplace else.

Maybe someday we'll know. I'll try to contact Terry Hutchison, but it's been a long time since he posted, so don't know if the email is still good. I'll let you know if I learn anymore.
