Family lore says that there was disapproval of a match between George William BYRD (b. Richmond VA, abt 1755) and Margaret Annie HUTSON. Margaret's family sent her off to an aunt's in Charleston SC - George followed her, and the aunt allowed them to marry. Margaret is variously stated as having been born either in VA, NY, or England. George and Margaret returned to VA, settling in the New River Valley; sometime before 1800 they emigrated to Yancey Co. NC, where they are now buried. One researcher thinks they may have married in Essex Co. VA. Unknown whether the aunt to whom Margaret was packed off was on her mother's or father's side and what her surname might have been. We have no parentage or date/place of birth for Margaret. Does anybody have Margaret Ann/Annie HUTSON in their files somewhere? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
