I'm new at this game of genealogy and I need all the help I can get! I'm trying to seek out my family (HUTSON) in the West Indies ~ predominantly in Barbados ~ and, I hope, eventually back to the UK. If you contact me I will respond and who knows how much mutually beneficial genealogical information we may be able to share.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Carla....Do you know anything about the Hutsons that settled in Forest Hills? My GGGM was Mary Hutson (b.1790s in VA) and she married my GGGF (Elijah Hardy) in Stewart County, TN in 1821.

I read in The History of Forest Hills that Mary was the sister of Con Hutson and Mrs. Jeremiah King (Elizabeth) but their father Ruben was born AFTER my GGGM and he migrated up from ARK.

I forgot I had this guest account so it's literally been a few years. Looks like we're related. Your great-grandfather Gerald and my grandfather Roland are brothers. That puts us into a cousin relationship. I had "heard" there were relatives on the Hutson side in Washington, and I may have even visited them as a child.

Great-great GF DL Hutson did marry a Ms. Edwards. I have her as "Willie-Ann", which may be a nickname version of "Anna M". I go back just one more generation of Hutsons and hit dead ends.

Do you have another e-mail account so we can dig a little deeper? I can be reached at "dlhnpdx@comcast.net".

Gratefully - David Lawrence Hutson
p.s. I have a 26 y/o son named Brandon!

I show andrew Hutson married Rachel Gipson, October 7, 1847, Boone Co., Indiana. Rachel was born April 8, 1809, This would have her being 38 yrs. old when they married. I believe the 1850 census shows older children, so quite possibly this was a second marriage for Andrew. I am not Hutson lines, but Rachel's sister Delilah my gr.gr. grandmother, who was married to James H. Riley. They also lived in Boone County.

Oh, this is so wonderful!
Hello my long lost step cousin and welcome to the Australian Hutson family. Welcome to you and all of yours.
I began this geneology adventure as a quest to find a photograph of Thomas Archibald Hutson to show to my father.
My father is Alexander Allan Hutson, 86 this year, and cannot remember his father's face. Are you able to supply a photograph of Thomas - and - a photograph of his parents? We would all be so thrilled to receive! I would like to send to you lots more of our family information, including photographs. Could you please email me at piscesgal_56@hotmail.com? For now, Thomas' children with Margaret Clark were (are): Thomas (first born - now deceased), John (died of dyptheria at 2 yo), Alexander Allan (my dad - still living), Lewis Grant (my Uncle - still living), Margaret (my Aunt - still living). They all live here in Australia. Cheers for now, Linda Hutson, Perth, Western Australia.

Hi William, Thanks very much for your message.I was recently contacted by a Linda Hutson from Perth Australia. Her father is Alexander Alan Hutson born in 1924 in Edinburgh. His father was Thomas Archibald Hutrson born 1894 at West Linton and died at Edinburgh in 1972.Thomas married Margaret Grant Clark at Huntly Aberdeeshire in 1920 and died in Australia in 1986.Linda had been told by her Grand mother that her husband had had a child by another woman and had left her at least once. Thomas Archibalds wife then took her five children to Australia where she had relatives.Linda is very keen to have contact with any of Thomas Archibalds Scottish family. Her father was 7 when his mother took them to Australia and he cannot remember his father. They would dearly like a photo of him if possible. I will send her the information you have supplied. I f you would like to contact me you can on roberthutson@hotmail.co.uk Thank you

Hello, my name is William Shiells and i am 48 years old and living in Edinburgh, my mother Sheila Shiells is 72 years old and was the daughter of Thomas Archibald Hutson,Thomas passed away when i was about 10 years old (circa 1972), leaving behind a family consisting of 4 sons and 4 daughters, as follows

Margaret(deceased)
Dorothy (deceased)
Jake (deceased)
Thomas (deceased)
Sheila (my mother still alive)
George (deceased)
Alexander(deceased)
Catherine (alive and living in England)

sadly their mother died in 1961 , my Grandfather was a bookmaker and the family were raised in the Northfield area of Edinburgh, from what i have been told there was an older brother in the family(William)who i never met but led to believe that he moved to Australia when most of the younger kids were still to be born, i spoke to my mother briefly on finding your post and she thinks that my Grandfather may have been living in the Huntly area of Scotland prior to moving down to Edinburgh, the belief being he was stationed there with the army. in the interests of being politicaly correct i think i could best describe my memories of my grandad as being a bit of a character !!!

Hi there. I am a descendant of this Hutson family.
My name is Linda Hutson and I am writing to you from Perth, Western Australia. Yes, some of the clan reached Australia!
I am the daughter of Alexander Allan Hutson, son of Thomas Archibald Hutson.
He emigrated to Australia on 13/04/1932 with his mother Margaret (Tootie) Hutson, his older brother Thomas, his younger brother Lewis and the youngest, Margaret. The family had been deserted by their father (Thomas Archibald Hutson) in Scotland, hence voyage to Australia on their own. The father, Thomas Archibald Hutson, had a child with another woman shortly before their departure. My ancestry search centres on him, as we know so very little of him. Would also like to meet my half-Aunt (and her siblings, if any) when I travel to Scotland next year.
Thomas Archibald Hutson is the son of Alexander Hutson. Thomas Archibald was born in Newcastle on Tyne, England, but the family moved back to Scotland, where Thomas met my grandmother. Any information you can offer on the family from, say, 1890 onwards would be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Linda Hutson P.S. Alexander Allen, Lewis and Margaret Hutson (children of Thomas Archibald Hutson) are still alive and living in Australia.
DNA, John, maybe Moses, Abraham and a Hodson too

Our DNA matches--maybe someone will connect:
our oldest proven John (b. c. 1793 NC) married Sarah Little and Lucinda Mitchell.

We have a good match with Abraham Hutson 9b. 1790-1800 - died 1860), early settler of Hamilton Co IL, wife Abigail.

I'm 99.9999% certain that John and Abraham were sons of Moses Hutson and Betsey Randolph. He fought in Am. Rev. from Caswell Co NC. Appears to have moved to Rutherford Co NC, eventually to Livingston Co KY, and finally to Hamilton Co IL.

Now here's the latest twist:
we have an equally close match with a HODSON, who traces his line to Hodgeson in Sudbury, Suffolk, England.

I've always thought I'd see Hudson further back, but this is a surprise.

Any thoughts?

I believe he may have been living in the Fulham area in 1911.

Thanks
Nathan

Hi! I do not know many of the names, but are somewhat familiar with Briggs, and Suell names. My family lost contact with my father Aaron Briggs for thirty five years therefore a lot of family could have acummulated since that time. My mothers maiden name is Suell and Briggs and suell connected to have a son who played pro-football in his day many years ago. William Suell and Rev. William Briggs are a few names that may be of interest to you. Also Kizzie, Mckelvey, and Nelsen, the family is very large
and made up Bi-racial. Annie Suell is my g-aunt on my fathers side, Briggs.

Hi Laurel,
Thank you for your response. It is really a small world. I have been communicating with Elizabeth M (Percy Nicholas Smith’s (PNS) daughter and she explained your connection being a neighbour. Elizabeth has emailed me a lot of information about PNS & Emily Olive Luckow & their children. It has been really fascinating !
I am unsure who “Jakes” is. Could you please let me now who this is. As far as I know PNS was only 10 years old in 1889 and he married Minnie Elizabeth Hutson on 14/01/1902 aged 23. They had 4 children. Percy Howard - DOB 1905, Reginald Bernard – DOB 1906 (both born UK), Elsie Irene Vera – DOB 1910 & Grace Mary Anne – DOB 1915 (both born Aust).
Would love to continue this thread with you.
Regards
Irene
Hello, It is very frustrating searching and not finding the information you want.
I have been researching Percival Nicholas Smith who married Minnie Elizabeth Hutson (daughter of Lousia Caroline & John Piper Hutson).
I have been given the following information by a cousin in law, hope it helps.
Louisa Caroline Fautley lived near Old Kent Rd, Camberwell, St George, Surrey, England. I have confilcting DOB's 17/06/1839 & approx 1842 with a DOD of 1888.
John Piper Hutson lived near Camberwell St, St George, Surrey, England and was a Butcher. I have his DOB as 1838 and DOD 1890.
Some of this information was taken from Minnie Elizabeth's Birth Certificate, she was born on 20/06/1878 at home, hard to make out the address but I think it is 13 Anni or Anns Terrace, Coburg Road, Old Kent Road.
I do have a copy of photos of Louisa & John if you are interested.
I would appreciate more accurate DOB's & DOD's for both Louisa & John and if possible the names of Johns siblings and any that you know of Lousia's side, with their dates.
Again, hope this helps
Regards
Irene
I am not a sibling or any relation, but I have a painting that is signed "Frances Hutson." I don't know that it is the same Frances Hutson that you inquired about. I was told that the painting was done by a Frances Hudson in Indiana, who was an art teacher, around the year 1901. I have had the painting for a while and had done searches for a Frances Hudson (that was the spelling given to me by the previous owner) and just recently looked closely at the spelling and saw that it is Hutson. My search brought out your inquiry, but I'm afraid it is not the same person, if the 1901 year is correct as to when the painting was done.

I will try to find out better information if you are interested. Hope you have better luck in your search.

I would like to join a Byrd family site on MyFamily.com that, I think, is owned by Ancestry.com I ought to know that since we belong to about 7 of those, but no Byrd sites. Our e-mail address is alliedon@hotmail.com

Thanks, Don in Tennessee

Irene I have read someplace that on their return trip from South Carolina to Virgina that they stopped over in Dandridge, TN.for a brief visit with Martha Dandridge. Martha was some relation to Margaret Ann Hutson. And Martha was married to our first president, George Washington. And the second oldest town in Tennessee is named Dandridge, in her honor. I think I have an electronic copy of this. Putting my finger on it may not easy. I have spent hours and days looking for anything on the Hutson family. I spent a little time around the Washington family and got sidetracked and haven't done any more with the Washington family. My hope in looking at the Washington family was that I may run into the Hutson family. Most of us, plain and simple, have to many irons in the fire....Don

Elgin, was your grandma Francis Inez Garland. It could be Inez Francis Garland. And I could be way off base as to who he was married to. And, he could have been married more than once. I have Francis Garland as Franklin Pierce Byrd's wife. Franklin's uncle James Newton was my great grandpa......Don

It looks like I need to look at these posts a little more often. Irene I had no idea you lived waaaay out in California. There is a Byrd researcher there in California. And I just wanted to reply to this to let you Northern Byrds know that I am here to help if I can. I won't step on Irene's toes. To many in the mix will get others confused. I can bring anyone from George " Broke Leg " Byrd's son, Blake to the present day if needed. My wife set up most of our accounts, so this may look like it came from her. Although we have been " as one " for 42 years, it is I, Don that will communicate and answer e-mails that come to alliedon@hotmail.com Heidi if you read this, just ignore the corny statements.
Get your DNA to see if we're related

I and eight other Hutsons have matched ourselves using DNA. If you are from South Carolina, UK, or Barbados, then we may be related. Do a DNA test to find out if you're interested. You might also find other Hutson cousins this way as I did.
