I have information on a direct line of Hutts descended from those
of New York and Canada ca. 1750. The family, siding with the Loyalist
cause, fled to Canada and fought against the Americans in the Revolutionary War.
Adam Hutt, and father-in-law Jacob Ball removed to Canada and joined Butler's
Rangers after the Americans confiscated their farms in the Schoharie Valley of New Yorkork State. After the war, Hutt and Ball petitioned to have their farms returned to
them, but the American government refused their claims. The Hutts and Balls settled in
Ontario, Canada, and Adam had a family. One of the sons, Jacob Ball Hutt, left Canada
and the rest of his family (though we don't know why) and moved to the area around Mobile, Alamaba.
He married Thurza Pipkin, daughter of a Baptist church founder, and raised a family
of his own. Jacob Ball Hutt is believed to have been a surveyor as well as military or
militia officer. He raised a company of men who fought in the Semilnole Wars sanctioned
by then President Andrew Jackson. Years later, he was among the first people to arrive at
the Alamo in Texas following the famous battle there where none were left standing. A few souvenirs
of his visit remain in the family to this date. Jacob Ball Hutt and the Burgess family were
reportedly involved in a boatwright partnership in Mobile, Alabama. One of Jacob Ball's sons,
N.F.A. Hutt (Napolean Frederic Alexander) and C.A.F. Hutt moved from Alabama to Arkansas ca. 1845.
This branch of the family remains there to this date.
If anyone has any information regarding the other descendants of either Adam Hutt or Jacob Ball Hutt
and family, I would appreciate your sharing them with me.
