Michael Huzinec, age 94,
passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2012
at the Pennsylvania Soldiers & Sailors Home.
He was born in Ronco, Pa. on April 18, 1918,
a son of the late George and Anna (Bolina) Huzinec. Michael served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as a machinist at Continental Rubber Works for 45 years, retiring in 1980. Michael played football and baseball and ran track in high school. He was a coach for his sons' little league teams. Michael was a founding member of Our Lady of Peace Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 73 years, Helen J. (Soboleski) Huzinec on March 2, 2012; five brothers, George, Andy, John, Charles and infant Michael Huzinec; four sisters, Mary Wasso, Anna Sakulich, Barbara Roll and Julie Kanis. Michael is survived by two sons, David M. Huzinec, wife Teresa, of Girard and Thomas G. Huzinec, of Buffalo, N.Y., and three grandchildren, Daniel, David and Emily Huzinec. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Betty Coughlin, of McKean. Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th Street. Services will be held there on Monday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Peace Church at 10 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery with full military honors.
