Charles Mortimer HY (prob b early 1870s NYS) marr. Jessie A. BARBER (b 1876, New York, Greene Co., Hunter)

My 2nd-great aunt Jessie A. BARBER married a Charles Mortimer HAIGH (spelling unknown), probably in the early 1890s. Charles was probably born 1870-1875, in one of the following NYS counties: Greene, Ulster, Orange, Delaware, Dutchess, Westchester, Rensselaer or Albany. Spelling variations are HEY HY HIE HAIGH HEIGH HAYE HEYE.

A possible HEY family that had a Charles in the 1880 census was located in the 1880 New York, Dutchess, Poughkeepsie census:

However, the name "Mortimer" implies a connection with Scotland or England, either by ancestry or sympathy.

Jessie A. BARBER was a daughter of Francis August BARBER & Emeline HARRINGTON, of New York State, Greene County, town of Hunter, village of Lanesville.

My great-aunt born 1894 of Dutchess County, NY, was the one who told me of this Charles fellow (Jessie A. BARBER was her aunt, so Charles was her "uncle by marriage"). She said it in such a way where it sounded like she had known this Charles personally in her youth, which would likely mean he had lived somewhere near the Hudson River.

If have any info on Charles Mortimer HIE, let me know. I have been unable to trace him -- or wife Jessie, or any kids they may have had -- at'all. Thanks.
