Hello,
I have a Hyde family tree on Ancestry.com, but my Hydes are from Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi. Someone mentioned that there were Hydes living in Viginia. Did anyone moved to Georgia? There was a Samuel Hyde(1784-abt1870) from Wilkes County, Georgia, but I can't find his origin. Samuel Hyde and his family moved to Winston County, Mississippi about 1830. My 2nd great grandmother, Milly Hyde came to Mississippi with this family as a slave. Milly had ten children and I am trying to make a connection with other African American Hydes.

Aron Hyde, born 25 Dec 1832 in Pennslyvania, at age 75 was living in Eureka Springs, Carroll County, Arkansas (do not know how long he had been in Arkansas). He had a twin brother named Moses. Aron was a preacher. He died May 7, 1911. I don't know if Arkansas and these dates fit your needs, but maybe Aron Hyde is your man. I do not have much info on him at this time, I'm just starting to work on the Hyde family line. According to a 1910 census, Aron's father was born in England.

Looking for the ancestors of Bennett or Barnett Heide/Hyde/Hide. b @1772 place ? Bennett and his wife Penelope or Penny Hide/Hyde are found in Censuses of Pickens County, S.C. Listed 1830-aft 1870 Census (aged 98 years). Possibly German ancestors, having left descendants who later settled in the Oconee > Pickens > Anderson County, South Carolina area, and abt 1870-75 relocated into Forsyth County, GA. These Heide/Hide/Hyde families may have had previous ties during the Revolutionary period of the Germanna colonies in Virginia, or later in the Little Fork, Culpeper, VA., before their settlement into Pickens, SC.
Anyone familier with Hydes w these movements? Seems to be some possible DNA evidence with Indiana Hydes also.

Looking for a death record of a Thomas Hyde. The record would need to indicate that he had a son born in 1816, ie. George's age on list of children would need to reflect that at the time of Thomas's death George was of an age that would indicate he was born in 1816. Thomas married a Mary, George was born in Ashton Under Lyne, Lancashire and moved to Australia with Mary and 3 children in 1842. Assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Troy Hyde
Hi Anna,
Well, he is a new line in the Hyde Sides, but I'll do my best. I am still a bit unfamiliar with the line.
Stephen A. Hyde was born 1804 in Greeneville, South Carolina, and lived quite a while in Pickens County. He moved to Dawson Georgia and died there in 1875. His wife was Martha Sanford and they had 14 children. Thats about all I have currently. Its like starting all over again since the DNA study has linked up 4 different Hyde lines! But we all are starting to work together on a common goal.
Take care, hope this info is helpfull.
Dan Hyde

Hyde of S.C./Ga., and Ansel Hyde of Perry County, Ind. Would love to hear from unknown cousins and get your data on our ever growing Hyde tree.
Also, a request. Any of our British Hyde's across the pond - we could sure use your help in the DNA project. You already know where your ancestors came from - you are still there!! We colonists are still hazy about our English roots, and could use a hand.
Thanks.
Dan Hyde

So many thanks. I also found two articles you've written, via Google, on medical practice (and malpractice) in Canada - both very interesting reading and lots of biographical detail.
No, I haven't seen your info on CBMH - what is that?
I still have two gaps in my research:
I'm trying to find out more about the Hydes in Ireland. I believe they may have been planters.
I'm also interested in knowing more about Charles Julius Mickle and Sarah Richards - why they went to Canada and what their life was like - what they did. I'd like to get over there and go through the Guelph Univ Library collection - maybe one day!
Please stay in touch: anne-nelson@xtra.co.nz
Anne

The names you mentioned would be children of William Hyde who is the son of Northrop Hyde. My great grand aunt Martha Briggs married Robert Hyde, son of Northrop Hyde. I would be happy to share what I have with you. Please email me at tlccollectibles@nckcn.com

Terry

Hi Richard,

I'm wondering if you're still looking for information about Volney and Elbridge Hyde. I think we may have chatted a few years ago, but perhaps we've discovered new things we can share. Elbridge and Charlotte were my ggrandparents. I'd love to hear from you.

Re: William Hyde b. 1848 Stockport Second,Cheshire

Hi Mary,I've just spotted your request. I am a descendant of Isaac Hyde, [father of your Charles & Harriett] by his second marriage to Ann Birchenough.
I hope that this will help you and hope that it is not too confused!

William son of Charles/Harriett born 1849
Married Esther Lofthouse nee Dickinson.Dec 1879 at Salford St.Simon, Salford. I do not have the actual date. Esther's parents were Henry Dickenson and Margaret Clark who were married at Ribble Register Office, Clitheroe Dec 1840.
Esther Dickinson was a sister to Ann Dickinson [b.1846, Preston who married Henry Billington in Preston.]
These families were all up in Workington in 1881 together with Mark, William and Henry Hyde [a brewer who had a very complicated life] all brothers, and sons of Charles Hyde/Harriett Sykes.

This was a second marriage for Esther. The children Mary Alice and John Thomas were from her previous marriage. I have not found a death for John Lofthouse.
Esther and William were married in Salford and the children William, Harriet and Mark were all born in Manchester followed by Annie and Emma born in Workington..although their marriage was not until 1879.
[Esther's sister Ann Dickenson married Henry Billington. 6 Aug 1865 at Preston St. John.]
Their children were living with the Billington family in Workington in 1891 after the death of their parents.
Both William and Esther died young whilst up in Workington. The children were looked after by the Billingtons until they went to Pawtuckett, US. to join their uncle Mark after 1891.
On the 1891 census, Mary Alice, John Thomas and Harriet were no longer living with their siblings so maybe they had already married.
It is possible that they moved together with the Billington family as William married Isabella Billington in Pawtucket.

Esther had a second marriage after the births of the children Mary Alice, John Thomas and William all surnamed HYDE on the 1881. [I need to check that, also 1871 census would be useful.]
It appears that they had three children born in Manchester before they finally married in 1879 at Salford St. Simon.
After William and Esther died, their youngsters were living with Henry Billington and Ann in Workington. Much later, their son William married his cousin Isabelle Billington in the USA.
William died in Workington in 1887 and was buried at Harrington St. Cemetary. Esther died two years later in 1889 and was also buried at Harrington St. Cemetary. I do not seem to have the actual dates. David Hyde might have these.

Children:-
Mary A. b.1867
John T. b. 1870
William Hyde b. 1873

There is a record of a William Hyde born at Manchester and registered Jun 1873 8d 404
This could be him.
In 1891, William was living with the family of Henry BILLINGTON in Workington with his brother Mark and Emma age 7.

William later married Isabelle the daughter of Henry Billington and Ann Dickenson, I thought they might have emigrated but David Hyde has discovered a different story:-

Now to something less complicated - William Hyde's children.

I was under the impression that Henry and Ann Billington emigrated to the US. However their migration was less ambitious, they moved to Preston with their son James and appear there in the 1901 Census.
William's son William married Isabella Billington
William and his wife Isabella Billington moved to Preston. The child shown as 1 year old in the 1891 Census as Robert Billington became Robert Hyde.
Annie Hyde. no info.
Edith Hyde not much info except that she married William COUCHA.
I have this from Donald Burkett Hyde in Pawtucket a desc. of Charles's son James Sykes Hyde who emigrated to US.

Harriett b. 1876
Harriett appears in the 1891 census as a servant at a place near Maryport.

Mark Hyde
Born 1878
In 1891, Mark was living with the family of Henry Billington, uncle, at 10, Devonshire St. Workington. with him was his elder brother William and Emma.
His aunt Ann was a sister of their mother Esther Dickenson
Mark married in 1894 at Cockermouth but I have not been able to trace him subsequently.

Annie b. Sep. 1880.
It appears that Annie married a Nicholaus Knoll at Pittsburgh, Allegheny. PA in 1900 and they appear on the 1910 census in the same place.

Emma b. 1883 Workington Cumbria.
Emma lived with the Billington family, her Uncle Henry, in Workington after her parents died.
By 1900 she was living in Pawtucket, Rhode Island with her uncle Mark Hyde and Sophia Lockyer.
Emma Hyde married James Thomas 19 Jun 1902 at Woodlawn Baptist Church Pawtucket. they had one daughter named Florence May b. 20 Feb 1907 at 47 Thornely St. Pawtucket.
Florence married George Ruhlin 11 Oct. 1928 at Halsey St. Presbyterian Church, Brooklyn NY. they had two children,
Donald George and Florence Emma.
I have lots of details of all their combined children - too much to add in here. Florence Emma married William Eugene Sullivan and had six children between 1954-1963.
Donald George was married 23 Dec 1950 at St. Paul's Methodist Church to Dolores Perry and had three children.

As I found a Mark Hyde at Allegheny, Pennsylvania as well as an Annie I have some hopes of finding them over there.

Let me know how you get on with all of this, please.

Sue.

Perhaps we've had this conversation before - several years ago, but I'll try anyway. My great. great grandfather John Hyde, and his wife Catherine came from England to Canada and then to Michigan. One of their sons, Almond (the youngest, I think) was my great grandfather. He lived in Lexington, Michigan and had 7 children, some of whom stayed all their lives in Port Huron (not my family). I've tried many times to find out where John and Catherine came from - do you know? Are they descended from Edward Hyde as claimed by some of them? I've never found a connection, but then I never knew where they came from.

Troy Hyde

Re: HYDE/GILLENDER Steubenville, Ohio

This is in response to a inquiry dated 2005 regarding the Hyde/Gillender Family of Steubenville, Ohio. Someone was trying to link a Alicia to this family. My great grandfather was Francis Hyde (1823-1870) and his wife was a Rebecca Maloney (1821-1884). His father was a Isaac Hyde (born ca. 1788 in Manchester, England) and died 1833 in Stuebenville, Ohio. If you are interested in this family line please contact me.

Re: William Hyde b. 1848 Stockport Second,Cheshire

Hello Sue! Well we haven't chatted in some time. I hope things have been well for you and yours?
I should have written to you right off about William Hyde, thank you for sharing. I would have written sooner but I can't find your email address. I didn't write to Donald Burkett Hyde for this info either because I have lost his home address as well. Have you been in contact with him recently? I know he dosen't use the internet but I would love to have his address if you still have it?
I was also wondering if you know where Isaac Hyde was born and married? I know his son Charles was born in Dumfries in 1812 but I didn't know if they were originally from Scotland or went there via England for some reason?
I had also thought that James Sykes Hyde had immigrated to the US but David Hyde informed me he didn't.I had actually mixed up some of my info and that's not too hard to do with this family! David kindly sent me a nice amount of information and I am indebted to him for his generousity.
If you have the time please fill me in on Henry Hyde the brewer. You say he had a very complicated life and I'd really love to hear about it.
If you have more on the Hyde's that you're willing to share I'd love to see it? I'd love to surprise my mom with a bigger, fuller Hyde family tree. When I picked up this search for her she had only the names and some dates of her uncles, aunts, and grandparents. She never even knew her grandmothers maiden name. So we have come pretty far but you know how it is once you've been bitten by the 'gene bug' you want to find more. I am also beginning a search on the Billington's to see who immigrated and where they went. I have been searching for William and Esther Hyde's children, Emma, Mark, and Annie Hyde as well.
I did find Annie Hyde, her husband Nicholas Knoll and family in Allegheny, PA. 1900 census through information that David sent to me..
I haven't found who Emma married or where she died yet but my mom thinks it may have been in NY?
It appears Mark Hyde died in (probably in Pawtucket?) Providence County,RI on Nov. 25,1943 and was buried in Mossasuck Cemetary,Central Falls,RI where many of the Hyde family members are buried. I don't know who he married yet or if their were any children but I will let you know if I find anything else. Thanks so much for emailing all this info to me. If you wish you can email me directly at; fourwinds22064(at)yahoo.com
I look forward to hearing from you again Sue.
~ Mary
My mother passed away about 1 1/2 years ago. I have pictures of Northrop M. Hyde. Somewhere I have a picture from the Civil War. I am not sure what unit he was with. My grandmother was Mae Hyde from Penokee Kansas. Does this ring a bell with anyone. Her brothers were Harry and Sherm.
