Hy Mark, Im Clifford J. Hysell, I am researching the hysell lineage, I have run across a distant cousin, Beatrice Hysell, b. Nov 1897, Meigs Co., OH, father was Denver, b. 6-20-1871 in Meigs Co., OH, md. Cora Bell Martin in Ohio, Their d. Beatrice Md Arthur G. Kennedy on 3 Nov 1917 in Marion Co, IN. The 1900 Census shows them living with their GP, R0yal and Flora Hysell In Meigs Co., OH. 1910 Census shows her living with parents in Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN. 1920 census shows her Married and living in Marion Co., IN. The 1930 census shows her and Arthur living in Glendale, Los Angeles Co., CA, with son Arthur H, 8 yrs old.
I was wondering if this could be the same Arthur G. Kennedy who was a actor in the 50-70 yr range? I thought that you might be interested being as you too are searching the Hysell line and might have heard of this. To Darin, My grandfather was a brother to Ishmel Hisle. He had six brothers and two sisters I have their names. Parents were Greeley Hisle (who had three brothers and one sister) and Amanda Ellen (Wells) Hisle. Amanda had seven brothers and two sisters. I do have a different name for Greeleys mother however. I am looking for source records for my Hysell family's line. I am particularly interested in photgraphs from the 19th and early 20th century. I would also like to find the ship record for Johannes Berndheisell and any source records on his sons, as I seem to be a direct descendant of almost all of them. My goal is to source as much of my line as possible (I have already found many of the Census reports, but will welcome anything) and develop a pictorial history of the Hysells. Thus I ask that if you send me photos, please label them as to who they are and the date the person was born. The Hysells are wonderful at using the same name multiple times throughout the line.

I'm not sure on the specifics of Thomas J Hysell, my grandma had mentioned that we were related to one and as you well know there are several hysells, hisels,hysels. My Great Grandfather was Charles William Hysell, his father was William Bartlett Hysell. Any help you could give me would be great. I do have the connie boyer book for the hysells but not a lot on our line.

From your note I would gander that you live in Meigs Co. That must be so nice to actually be amoung the ancrestral lands of our ancestors and to walk the very ground that they once did. I live near Huntington, WV and I do alot of my research at Marshall University in the (Special Collections) I will have to review my notes to see where I was able to put the info together at. What I posted first time was a draft page from my software program give me some time to come up with the info information I file my study notes a little messy after I put the info into my software program.

I am looking for the correct James M. Hysell. I believe Melissas mother to be Sarah Russell. I have an obituary stating that James M. Hysell died (1895) at the home of his daughter Melissa Stone in Rutland, Meigs Co. Do you show your James M. Hysell having a daughter Melissa b)1863? I'm trying to confirm her mother. I have several dates for the siblings of Charles Reed. (Holliday, Jefferson, Lousiana)

Meigs Co., OH DODSON, HYSELL, LOWERY

I am desperately searching for any information on the following people:

William DODSON b. 1835 (possibly 1855, the census was hard to read) d. aft. 1900
William married Lucinda HYSELL b.1855 d. aft 1920

They had 2 children:
Carrie DODSON b. 1887 d. 1927 - her death certificate says that she is buried in Bradford cemetery, Meigs Co., OH, but I have been unable to locate her grave.
Edward Tex DODSON b. 1892 d. 1966 - he is buried in Marion Co., OH

Both Edward and Carrie's death certs list their parents as William DODSON and Lucinda HYSELL of Meigs Co., OH. I have the family in the 1900 census and beyond, but can find nothing before 1900.

William Dodson died sometime after 1900, as Lucinda is listed as Widow in the 1910 census. In the 1920 census she is remarried to a man named Othello (Arthello?) LOWERY. I cannot find graves or any death information for either Lucinda or William.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Lineage of Emma Hysell who m. Thomas F Miller 22 Apr 1873 in MO

I am looking for parents of Emma Myrtle Hysell/Hisel/Hisle who married Thomas Freeling Miller in Platte Co., MO on 22 Apr 1873. She may have lived with Andrew Jackson Hisel in Buchanan Co., MO, but we don't believe he was her father - might have been an uncle. Her obituary in Excelsior Springs, MO, paper, 8 Apr 1909, lists survivors as 2 brothers Rhodus Hisel of Excelsior and James Hisel of Dearborn, MO. According to the MO death certificate of Rhodes Hisel (d. 19 Sept 1919) his parents were John Hisel and Mary Hisel. I do find a John and Maria in Buchanan Co, MO, in 1860 census but not these children listed - Rhodus was probably born abt 1861 but Emma was b. in 1854. Maria might be a widow in 1870 with a different spelling - but again no Emma or Rhodus. Can anyone help with this?

Sarah Ann "Sallie" Russell, born 1827, Pomeroy, Salisbury Twp., Meigs Co., Ohio; died 1885 in Madison Co., WV. She was married to William Nelson Hysell, 8 Apr 1847, Pomeroy, Meigs Co., Ohio. He was the son of Henry William and Mary E. "May" Crooks Hysell. Melissa was the daughter of James M. and Katherine (or Catherine) Rice Hysell. Melissa was born in Oct 1860 in Meigs Co., Ohio. She married John Henry Stone, 2 Oct 1883, Meigs Co., Ohio. Her father was born 1814 in Virginia, the son of Strother and Elizabeth Smith Hysell.

Hi there. I believe the person you are asking about is my Great-Grandfather. Thomas Jefferson Hysel was born in Indian Territory (Oklahoma) in 1885.

I am descended from three Hysell lines leading to John Barnhisle of Germany. My G-Grandmother Daisy Goble-Hysell was married to Milton Hysell, my G-Grandfather. Daisy's mother was a Hysell also. She left fairly detailed notes of the family she knew growing up as well as her husband's family. I would be happy to e-mail those to you if you are interested. I am directly related to the Hysells by three different lines from John Barnhisle of Germany. I have some photos taken when my G-grandmother Daisy Goble(really Hysell through her mother) and my G-grandfather Milton Hysell lived in Meigs County in about 1920-1930, as well as the children and siblings. I also have many class photos of the school children at the time that their children would have been attending school. I would love to swap...I am desperate to fill in the missing holes of our family tree and photo album.
