More Hyslop information

I have a lot of Hyslop information from a lot of sources, mostly family. It was always a big deal when I was growing up, to talk about family members living and those passed on. My Dad's family was the same way. I did not know untill the past few years, that all families do not do this. I wish I could remember all of the stories I have heard over the years. It would make a great book. The fact that TV was not around when I was growing up, made talking a more common thing.
I have a copy of a letter written 9 Nov. 1793 from New York (city) to Scotland. There is a typewitten transcription and a copy of the actual letter. The tyed copy is headed "Transcription of letter addressed to Mr. John Hyslop, Jun., Brae & To Mr. William Hyslop's Ease, Dumfries
Dear Brother, (signed) Your loving Brother, Robert Hyslop"
The letter is one typed page (about three handwritten pages).
If I feel ambitious some day, and anyone is interested, I will type it all in. I will put in the 5th generation as compited by Eleanor Hyslop Small in the next few days. I do not think I will go any farther than that for most of us are still alive. Iread somewhere that it was not a good idea to give personal info on people who are still alive.
THE INFORMATION FOLLOWING IS FROM THE WORK OF ELEANOR Hyslop SMALL..
Notes. 1st generation. The two older brothers of William Hyslop (John and Robert) came to the "new world" first in 1773. They claimed land on Manhattan Island. They changed the spelling of their name to HISLOP. John and Robert visited the Brae again, then returned to New York in 1774. Both died in the Yellow Fever epidemic soon after their arrival. Their property was never claimed by the family in Scotland.
ROBERT LITTLE (see LITTLE lateral line) was a road contractor in Scotland. He married Elizabeth Oliver from a family of wealthy professional men in Castle Douglas, Scotland. She and Robert are buried in the LITTLE plot in Lochruton Gate cemetery, adjoining the Hyslop plot
