To Scott, Kathy Judith:
This might help you unravel 18th/19th century Hyzer NY beginnings!
I'm not certain which Peter Hyzer is which, so I'd love to hear from you, since we are probably all related, and exchange more info.
My mother, Harriet Mary (nee Hyzer) Stephens, was born in Rockford, IL 4/20/1910, and died 11/17/1990 in El Paso, TX.
Her parents were Lenora Walsh John Burtis Hyzer. He was born 08/15/1885 to Harriet Catharine Davis Peter Hyzer, and died 06/1967.
A carbon copy of the Hyzer history provided to my mother's uncle gave the following information:

The History of Delaware County, New York, speaking of the early settlement of Andes villiage says: "At nearly the same time
(About 1800) Peter Hyzer, father of Abram Hyzer and grandfather of the present thrifty generation of Hyzers, settled just north of
Bassett and built a house near where now is the residence of David Burroughs. He went on foot and brought back from Shavertown
all the boards which he used in the building. Another experience of his (doubtless true of other settlers) was going on foot over the Indian trail route, to 'Sopus# fully sixty miles distant, and returning at evening of the third day with a bushel of salt on his shoulder"
