Mary Idol Charles Mink, Rockcastle Cty, KY

I am looking for any information regarding Mary Idol who married Charles Mink on July 26, 1892. They married in Rockcastle County, Their daughter Stella Mink (1900-1974) married Henry Harrison Mink and they lived in Bell County Kentucky.

Family forklore has it that Mary Idol worked on the Delta Queen Riverboat out of Cincinnati, OH and lived for a time with her sister, Nettie.

Mary and Charles had at least one other daughter, Ruth.

Mary may have later married a brother of Charles, Albert Mink.

My mother was Edith May Hayward (nee Iddles) b 1917 in Smethwick, UK. Over the last 6 months I have been researching the iddles/iddols/iddiols name. With help from various UK, Australian and Canadian, contacts I have gone back as far as Thomas Iddles and Ann Wall both born in the 1720s in Kings Stanley, Gloucestershire. There is a probable link to the London Iddiols (through James Iddiols and Hannah Flight). Most of the Gloucestershire Iddols and Iddles were connected to the wool weaving trade and either emigrated or moved into the industrial areas of the UK in the 1850-70s. My tree is located on Ancestry.co.uk and you are welcome to view or send me a mail and I can forward a GEDCOM/pdf file (steven.hayward1@btinternet.com).
I have managed to fill quite a large part of the UK and Australian history of the Iddles name . However there is quite a trail back to the Iddols of the1400s at Oldbury-on-the-Hill, Gloucestershire. Possibly a group of flemish weavers fleeing persecution and encouraged to settle in England by King Richard II. A contact of mine has managed to piece together the families and she reckons that the family possibly split with one group going north towards Kings Stanley, Leonards Stanley, Avening, Minchinhampton areas and the other part going south into Wiltshire (Box, etc).
I would really be grateful if I could be included in any of your communications as I have quite an interest. It would really be interesting to find out if the Flemish connection is true.

I was interested to see your note on the net i am also an Iddiols although living in Australia now I am from London although my Iddiols ancestors came from Kings Stanley in Gloucestershire. I have a family tree that goes back to Hannah Flight and James Iddiols I wonder if you are a branch of it?

I can only trace my family back to James Iddols and Hannah Flight . Their son John married Maria Hunt and moved to London I believe and it is around this time that the name changed to Iddiols. I Have a bit of a family tree that an uncle has already compiled but it only goes back to the 1700's so it is great you have managed to find imfomation going back even further.
I was over in london recently but didn't have an oppurtunity to do any research but will be back in a couple of years to see the family and will make a Bee line for Gloucester Happy New year Barbara Haines

hello barbara,

yesterday (31/12/05) i was walking around st arlids church in a place called 'oldbury on the hill' in the county of gloucestershire england, there are records of us going back to the year 1510!!!!! i have also managed to make some speculative cross references to the family name in the neighbouring county of wiltshire in villages called langley burrell and north wraxall.
it would be nice to link the two branches of the family conclusively, any information you have would be appreciated.

Write to Davidson County Public Library System in Lexington, North Carolinia ask for book"DESCENDANTS OF BARNETT & ELIZABETH MEIER IDOL ask them to copy pages 56thru 59 This is about David Idol. Also, page 4 this is Jacob Idol son of Jacob & Chole Johnson Idol. Chole Johnson is the daughter of John Johnson who is listed in DAR Patriot Index. I would try Old Rowan now Davidson County for marriage records. John Johnson was from Virginia & lived in Yakin River Valley North Carolinia. I hope that this may help you out. I have the Johnson Lines for DAR.

Just thought I'd check to see if you made contact with Lynne Iddiols as she has the family tree back to the 1700s.

I am hopefully off to Oz within the next few months and my brother Tony and his family already have their visa granted, so here's to building up the Iddiols clan down under although we are aware of a Ray Iddiols in Tasmania.

Saw your message of 2001 regarding the Idol Family History and wondering if you ever found a copy of the above book.

There are several in North Carolina Libraries, Davidson County for one, but none for sale that I can find...would love to have a copy also as my grandmother was Annie Louise Idol of Bethania, N.C. married to Samuel Augustus Oehman.

Do you by any chance have birth, marriage or death records for John A. Idol married to Matilda M. Peacock? (First wife was Charity Ann Huff.)

I think your Barnett Idol is possibly the child of Adam Idol and Nancy Ann Rice, or he may be decended from a sibling of Johann Eitel.

Johann Eitel is my ggggg-grandfather. I am descended from his son Adam Idol.

Other records show that Johann's parents were named Hannes and Catharin Eitel. The name you mention could be his older brother or perhaps an uncle, but with the quality of records who knows?!
