I should also mention, that the T. Hoskari, in this thread, who posted in 2000, is the wife of my second cousin in Finland. Her husband's grandmother, is the sister of my grandfather, Oiva. Tiina, who lives in Finland, did some work on her husband's family tree. They live about 5 miles from where my grandfather was born. My mom and Dad went to Finland in 2007 and connected with Dad's family and took many pictures of the area, including the original Ikkala Farm where Henrik and Aleksanteri would have been born.

Hello,I just looked at my old notes for my Ikkala family. Alexanderi (Aleksanteri in my records)b. 1856 m 1882 to Hedvig Asunmaa, one child recorded, Arvi Ikkala (that doesn't mean there weren't more) and he d. 1945 in Alavus. Does that sound like your family? If so he is the brother of my Henrik Ikkala b. 1854. Henrik's son, Eemil, my great grandfather came to America in the early 1900s, saved money and returned to Finland in abt 1911, and married in 1912. Their son, Oiva Ikkala, came to Canada with his family in 1957. I have more information on the Ikkalas and naming patterns in Finland if you are interested. My Great Grandmother was Hilja Ikkala, from Alavus, Finland. She was the oldest of 12 children, with only 2 girls. She and her sister came to the States in the early 1900's. I believe one of the brothers came to the states as well. Her parents were Alexanderi and Hedvig Ikkala. My great grandmother came to the states to marry my Great Grandfather John Koski. I believe his name was HevonKoski in Finland. Anyone know them?

Hello, I realize your post was six years ago. I just saw it today. I am hoping we can connect. I am Bertta and Oiva's granddaughter. They emigrated to Canada in 1957 from Alavus Finland. I have complete information on all of their children. My Regards, Jennifer Ikkala
