Ann, Margaret Ann Arnold and William Henry Ince are my great grandparents. Benjamin F. Ince and Effie Inez are my grandparents. I have been trying to find out information about Margaret Ann and her parents for quite a long time. A lot of my information is the same as what you have (what little I have). Any more information you would be willing to share regarding Margaret Ann's parents would be appreciated.

I have very little information on Daniel Boone Ince, Sr. or Jr. and their families. Any information would be appreciated. I'll be glad to share information, also.

Donna

Margaret Ann Arnold Ince was my great grandmother. She was married to Wm. Henry Ince. Her father was Joseph Arnold and her mother was Mary Ann Warden. When Joseph died, before Margaret Ann was 10 years old, her mother married James Riley Emberlin in 1869. Joseph was in the Civil War. I don't know if he died in the War. I found him on the 1860 Collin Co., TX census living with Mary Ann (18 years old, born in Missouri) and Nancy J. (5 months born in TX). Margaret Ann was not yet born. Joseph was 24 yrs old and born in Ohio. My grandfather was Daniel Boone Ince. If you want more info, I'll be glad to share.
Ann

Hi Chris
I was just as surprised as you when you told me that on the 1871 census Maria was listed as Atwell. Do you know the date of death of William Ince or Maria Atwell?
John Joseph is the brother of Isaiah
on the 1841 census Maria married to William Attwell have the following children:
Clemantine b1828
William b1831
Casiah b 1834
Ann Maria b 1837
Isaiah b 1838
John Joseph b 1839

On 1851 census Maria married to William Ince, the following children are listed:
Casiah
Ann Maria
Isaiah
John Joseph
Josiah
Louisa

I found Clemantine married to William Guest on 1851 with children listed as:
Louisa 4
Edward 3
William 2

So far I have not located Clemantine's brother William in 1851, still looking.

I don't know where Bertha is on the 1891 census, possibly she was married though I think age 14 would be a bit early, or maybe she was in a different district, working or visiting.

I think Ann Maria is the correct family, all dates seem to tally
but if they had a son born 1862, where is he in 1871.

I'll be going back to Uni shortly so I don't expect I'll get the chance to check out any more details for some time.
So good luck with your search.
Shirley

Re: INCE dilema

Dear Chris
On the 1841 census
William Attwell 35 bricklayer
Mariah 35 (her maiden name was Richards)
Clemantine 13 (not on 1851 census with family, have not found her yet in 1851)
William 10 (also not on 1851 census with family, not located yet)
Casiah 7
Ann Mariah 4
Josiah 3 (I think this name should be Isaiah) judging by name on 1851 census
John Joseph 2

On the 1851 census -
William Ince ( I am skeptical about the surname as the handwriting is difficult to make out for sure). Head age 50 Labourer, born I think it says Walsall.
Maria wife age 42 Tipton
Casiah Atwell daug 19
Annamaria daug 16
Isaiah son 14
Joseph son 12 (listed as John Joseph in 1841)
Josiah son 9 (would have been born abt 1842)
Louisa daug 7 (would have been born abt 1844)

If as you say William Ince and Maria married 1849, were
Josiah and Louisa born to William Attwell or William Ince out of wedlock? Great mystery.

Sorry, but so far I have not locate William Ince in 1841, still looking. Unfortuately so much of the 1841 census are illegiable, having faded over time but I will continue to look today.

Do you have any idea where he may have lived. I am at present looking through the Dudley Tipton area, but if you have a better idea of the parish it would make the job easier.

Shirley

Alice Ince/Knox born c1879 Mile End, London.

I am looking for any info on Alice. There is some confusion to what her real surname name was. She used the surname 'Knox' and she 'supposedly' married a George Coram, but records show that she died a spinster, surname Ince. Also her Fathers name is shown as a Thomas Knox? I am presuming that she may have been born out of wedlock, or her real Father left, and she took the surname of the man her Mother eventually married.

Alice Ince/Knox/Coram had 10 children with George Coram. All born in the East End of London c1894 to 1916. Alice is my Great Grandmother, so any information would be great.

Thanks.

I can see that a lot of this stuff was done quite a few years ago, but just found this site today. I think that I have a Thomas Ince in my family. My father's name was Gerald (Jerry) Ince. His father's name was Howard Raymond Ince of Louisiana, Missouri. I know that he had a lot of brothers and sisters (how many lived past childhood, I do not know). The last of his sisters died about 5 years ago. Howard was born in 1901. I am LoriAnn (Ince) Kuhn of Washington. Let me know if I can help at all. I do have a lot of stuff stored with names and dates on them, including some Bibles with births, deaths, and marriages. lakuhn5@yahoo.com

Ince family in Bromsgrove.

Hi,

I'm not really looking for information (although it would be helpful). More or less I'm looking to make contact with members of the Ince Family in Bromsgrove, Worchestershire, England.

These would be descendants of George Henry Ince (or a relation in some way) who was born in 1850. He would be my great-great-grandfather. He was married to Mary Ann Janes (sometimes spelled Jeynes) and had many children.

Harriet (my great-grandmother), Sarah, Thomas, Charles, George, Albert, Samuel, Eliza, Mary, Nellie, Emma, and James. (Mary Ann Janes was a machine!)

If you are member of the Ince family, or if you know anybody, or if you know somebody who knows somebody, PLEASE get in contact with me. Even if you know of any local Bromsgrove resources which may assist me in making contact it would be sincerely appreciated. Any info, no matter how miniscule, is helpful.

The reason I ask is I am one of many George Ince descendants here in Canada, and we're trying to find out more about the life of George and Mary Ann Ince. We're also hopeful that someone has some photographs that can be shared.

Thank you for your time.

I have found a cemetery record for this baby in the Old Gordon Cemetery in Palo Pinto County, Texas. He was born 28 Nov. 1915 and died 21 Feb 1917. Does anyone know who his parents were? I would like to link him to my family of Henry I. Ince of Palo Pinto Texas, but need to make sure he does not belong to someone else. Those dates are in line with Henry's other children. Henry is son of John Prichard Ince and Laura Wharton.

The story of Thomas Ince's death is a fascinating one. Thought to be shot by none other than William Randolph Hearst, who was supposedly aiming for Charlie Chaplin... Do you have any more info about it? I'm currently researching this death, as well as a few others in the same time period, and the same approximate location.

Shawnee
