Ingram's of Gwinear, Cornwall, England

My line:
Elizabeth Ingram chr 1799; married John Luke and William Pollard.
Her parents were: Tobias Ingram 1772-1817 and married 1796 to
Elizabeth Sampson.
Tobias Ingram chr 8 March 1772 was the son of Christopher
Ingram and Honor/Honour Melland/Mollard. Christopher and
Honour married 4 Feb 1770 in Gwinear. Honor may have been
from Gorman, England. Honour died 12 March 1814 age 72.
Next generation would be:
Christopher Ingram buried 25 Jan 1797 age 56, this would
be the Christopher chr 26 July 1741 to Christopher Ingram and Dinah Harvey. Dinah Ingram was buried 25 March 1788 in
Gwinear. Dinah and Christopher were married 6 Jan 1734-5 in Gwinear. I believe that Dinah's husband was the Christopher
the elder who was buried 18 July 1777,age 65; thus the
Christopher chr. 29 Nov 1712, son of Tobias Ingram.

Do I have this correct?

Dear Roger - 8-1/2 years later. Are you still out there? I am trying to confirm a connection between John Ingram (son of Archibald Ingram and Rebecca Glassford), who married a cousin (?) by the same surname and had a daughter, Margaret Ingram (1757-1842). Margaret married Archibald Jervie/Jervis (1760-1839) and they had a daughter, Mary Jervie/Jervis (1789-1851). All lived around Glasgow and Edinburgh, I suspect. I have this info scribbled down many years ago by an old relation, and can find no records. Can you confirm any of this? Any little bit would be appreciated. Many thanks. Liz Gregory, Sydney, Australia.

Ingram is Teutonic in origin, translates to "Ing's raven".
"Ing" from Old High German ingwio (dedicated to the God Ing, similar to Odin), "ram" from Old High German raban, Old Norse hrafn (both mean raven). Hope that helps.

Re: Ingram and Tyler relatives of Colquitt and Brooks co. Ga.

My Grt grt grandmother was Mary A. Ingram b-1829 in Ga. and died in Colquitt co. in 1905. She married Asa Ashbury Tyler of Marion/Schely Co. They are found on the 1880 and 1900 Colquitt Co. The 1880 census shows Mary as being born in 1849 and then the 1900 shows her born in 1829, twenty years older than her husband A. A. Tyler. I thought the 1829 year was a census taker error, but having found Mary's full slab marker at Wesley Chapel cemetery in Berlin, Colquitt Co., this past summer, it appears the 1829 birth year for Mary Ingram was correct. The slab states she was born in 1829 and died in 1905 and the wife of A. A. Tyler. The children of Asa and Mary were: Mary A. b-1874, Eula b-1879 d-1914-1917 in Brooks Co. (my Grt grandmother, (she married W. H. Dykes), Edgar Eugene b-1880 d1941, Annie B-1883, Pearlie Mae b-1888, Otis or Artis E. b-1890. Anyone with info on the Tylers or Ingrams of Colquitt and Brooks Co. please contact me at jt33584@yahoo.com.

Do you know if Green Ingram had a son named James, born around 1838 or 39?
I have been looking at Green Ingram for awhile, my GGGrandfather was a James Ingram, who married a Martha (supposedly Morris), and they show up in the Walker County census of 1860.
Green Ingram's family were neighbors to Martha Morris' family in the 1860 census.
So far I haven't come across anything showing James to be his son though. I suppose he could have been related some other way, but I haven't found anything yet.

Re: INGRAM Belfast, County Antrim, married to LEES

Jeanine - I am descended from William Lees, Elizabeth Lees' brother. I had known about the "Ingram" connection, but was not exactly sure who was married to who until recently. What I do know is that William and Elizabeth Lees (along with a brother Hugh), were the children of John Lees who was born in Ireland (probably Belfast, County Antrim since this is where everyone else seems to hail from) and an unknown spouse. I was wondering if you have any information on this "unknown" ancestress married to John Lees (i.e. Elizabeth's mother)? We hit a dead-end here. We also cannot trace John Lees line back any farther than a "Lees" born in Ireland in 1750.

My great-grandfather William (Elizabeth's brother) was married to Francis "Fannie" Marshall, and their son FitzHugh was my grandfather. My father was George Edward Lee(s). Elizabeth's brother Hugh was married to Catherine Delarga.

In any case, we are related through Elizabeth Lees, and any information you have on the Lees family from Ireland, who settled in Ohio, would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards & Thanks!

Hi Kathy,

Search through the 1880 Census because it is a stable database and call up
the living people on this list:

http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.fc/qx/ingram-family-crest...

I found my great-grandparents, finally, in an 1885 Census in Kansas using the spelling variation of Wallace, Wallas, because they used both spellings long ago in the 1880s.

You could also call the National Association of registered geneologists who know how to work with the courthouses in the respective towns. I heard it costs about $30 per hour but it saves the traveling expenses and time it takes for you to do the searching.

Also check all the spelling variations of Ingram. And check the passenger lists to get the names of Ingrams in the country of origin because the children may have gone back to live with their relatives in England, etc.

Susan Wallace Maxwell
Libertyville, IL

I am also researching my Ingram line. The farthest I've been able to get so far is with James J. Ingram on the 1860 census of Walker County, AL. He is married to Martha. In 1870 they appear in Hill County, TX with children Mary, Martin, Sarah and George, all born in AL.
Martin moved to OK sometime between 1880 and 1900 where he lived around the Atoka, Caney areas until he died in 1941.
He was my Great Grandfather.
There was Native American bloodline on that side of the family, rumored to be Cherokee, but I have found no proof of it yet.
Do these Ingrams sound familiar to anyone?
I have more info if so, I just can't get back further than James so far.

Ingram of New York and Charlevoix, Michigan

Charles Ingram married Eliza Emma Millburne. They lived in Michigan. Charles was born in Newy York, and Eliza in England. They had 3 kids, Hattie, Charles and John Ingram. I am looking for any information that could close a huge question for us.

John Ingram married Neita Keech. They had Laura Nellie Lucille Ingram in April 1910. Laura went as Lucille Ingram or many years. She had a son, William R. Madsen in 1927. There is a twist to this story. Lucille dated a man Frank Hecht (aka Dubarr). Frank changed his name to Dubarr for unknown reasons. Supposedly Lucille was pregnant, but it wasn't Frank's child. Frank died in 1932, Lucille married William C Madsen in Michigan, where William R. supposedly adopted the Madsen name.. William also was known as Billy.

It is said Lucille was kicked out of Hattie Green's home, when she became pregnant in 1926 Detroit. Hattie's husband owned a store or speakeasy in the 20s.

Due to the Depression, kids were being adopted, by neighbors, friends, etc. I have 100 people in my shoebox, as clues. But I need someone or thing to tie them together.

I am looking for the answer to the mystery--WHO got Lucille pregnant? Anybody hear this story??

Surnames involved in this story are: Keech, Ingram, Madsen, Hecht, DuBarr, Green, Mason.

My email is scott347@cox.net

I don't know if there is any connection to our Ingram/Ingraham families of New Jersey and Philadelphia, PA.
Amer C. Ingraham or Ingram was born circa 1822 in Philadelphia and wed Sophia Matilda Butcher, the daughter of Joseph and Susan Butcher from New Jersey.
Amer's daughter Mary Emma Ingraham wed William Henry ANNADOWN, brother to Edward Bell Annadown (my great grandfather). William Henry and Mary Emma had 3 children: 2 sons Louis Napoleon Annadown and Edwin Cone Annadown who were raised more as brothers than 1st cousins with my grandfather Paul Vivian ANNADOWN. Mary Emma Ingraham died shortly after giving birth to her daughter Jennie. Her sister Ella came from Philadelphia with her husband John B. Schumutz and got Jennie to raise as their daughter althought she always went by Annadown. Jennie wed Stephen Kingsland Kolbe and lived in New Jersey.

Hi, my last name is Ingram. I was wondering if I have any relatives in Texas or California. My maternal grandmother, Beatrice Ingram (b. 1944) in I believe california. Nontheless, her parents moved the family here in about 1960. However she always told me she had alot of Ingram relatives in Texas who owned/worked in the oil business. I know her fathers name is Floyd T. Ingram. His wife was Bernice HIdey. If you think you may know anything about our family ancestory/history, please post. Thanks so much, Danielle from Michigan.

Chrissy, not sure if you're still an active member; I saw your post from 1999 (I think it was). Marvin Ingram was my grandmothers brother; her name was Mittie Ingram Crawford. Looks like I'm coming in pretty late on this genealogy thing; I'm sure you have a lot of info. Have you posted your tree; I'd love to see it. Thanks, Tina (Harrington) Jepson
