ADMINISTRATORS MESSAGE - PLEASE READ
Hey Boarders,
NOTE THIS IS THE INGRAMS BOARD. NOT INGRAM.
I just wanted to Introduce myself, I'am the New Admin for the INGRAMS Board. Genealogy is fun and Can be rather Addicting.
Being and Admin can get rather hectic, Keep the board following Rootsweb board Rules, to keeping it clean. SO on that note from This post on. Please make it easier for others who are just starting thier hunt.
1) SUBJECT LINES : Last name first, then Given names PLease keep it simple If your putting dates into the message box you do not need to put it in the subject line same goes for States, Countries.
2) Make sure you put the correct Classification : Query, Look up......
3) Surname box: Surrnames that are include in the message body. Format should be INGRAMS, Smith, Boxer
putting it that way will make it so search engines can pick it up.
and LAST. This message board is for INGRAMS. There is a Message board for INGRAM. PLEASE make sure your posting to correct one. From this point on INGRAM posts will be moved to the INGRAM Board.
I'M not trying to be a Admin monstor, but my experience with Genealogy has taught me to make sure its correct. Someone looking for George INGRAM comes to this board and someone posted an INGRAMS as INGRAM. well lets just say it will save alot of high hopes from getting shot down.
Hope all are having luck with their Hunt. I also just wanted to post and bring to notice something we all should be paying attention to.
Even though it helps with research and beyond and there's nothing in the Guidelines saying you can not post it. It is something that is Needed in our research.
But Be very Careful about posting Birthdates and Personal information of the LIVING. Today there is alot of Identity Theft. and beyond what some may say. Ones that steal Identities do browse the Boards just like these for such information of LIVING and Dead to steal just that the Identities. You hear the stories all the time.
So be careful on LIVING information. A good Idea, is if someone wants it, is to contact the individual that they are requesting information on asking if its ok to pass it on or give them the persons contact information so they can personally contact them.
The front line to Identity theft is the person who is being asked the information from. Hope this helps Everyone.
