I am looking for information on J H W Morris born in Arkansas and his Wife Sarah F Day. While I have information from 1860 until the time of their death, I am in need of information prior to the 1860 date. What I do know they married previous to the 1860 census and had their first son in Hill County, Texas, J H W was suppose to have been in the Civil war between 1860 - ? I have no paper on that can find nothing but family stories. He was said to be under the command of General John Bell Hood, as a sharpshooter (Sniper). J H W was born in Arkansas according to the census. There is some conflicting info for the place of birth for G Grandma Sarah F Day Morris 1860 says Missouri the rest and a death record for my Great Aunt says Tennessee . They lived in Hill County, then moved to Collin County, sometime before the 1870 census was there until after the 1880 census. After the 1880 census and before the marriage of my Granddad 1888 the family shows up in Montague County, Texas. In fact it appears most of my uncles were living in Montague some until after the 1900 census. They soon show up in IT (Oklahoma) It appears that my G Grandparents came into what is now Carter County sometime in the 1890ies , I know that some of the G uncles showed up with them. G Grandpa died in 1902 I have headstone picture of his and G Grandma's she died in 1917. They are both buried in the Frio/Free o Cemetery near Fox,Carter County, Oklahoma. I have a death record such as it is Oklahoma didn't have D.R.until after 1908 and they were slow in catching on. This is just a page from the Funeral Register Book from the new owner of the funeral home that did his service. It has had a name change.
If anyone knows anything about these 2 people I am willing to share. I really think his name was James or John Henderson but the W has me stumped. Sarah F Day, I feel the F stands for Frances, Sarah Frances was a popular name or appears to be. The 1850 census turn up more than a few.
Thank You. Lillie
