Hi cousin. This info was assembled by my dad a few years ago, My grandfather, Robert Eugene Enscoe, was born in November 1896 in Beckwith, Cal. to Joseph Robert Enscoe and Jennie Parish. Robert Enscoe fathered my dad, Gerald Eugene, in Orofinos Idaho in 1926. Joseph Enscoe was an engraver who emmigrated to New York in the 1850s and moved to Downieville Cal. in 1858. He briefly worked as a miner and later opened stores in Downieville anda Sierraville. In 1867 he bought a 160-acre ranch near Loyalton and later opened another store in Loyalton. He died in 1894. In 1861 he married Lenora Thompson of Capetown, who had made several trips to California before settling there. The couple had eight children of whom only one, Joseph Robert, survived. Lenora died in 1888. Joseph Enscoe had three children with Jennie Parrish, Leonora May. RObert Eugene and Lucy. Leonora married Leo Millett and had a son, Gordon Millet, who I guess you are related to. That's all I have from that line of the family. SO what happened with the Milletts? Keep in touch if you have any interesting family tidbits.

Hi, I would definitely be interested! Sorry for the delay in responding, we were on vacation and then needed surgery. I would really like to learn more about Lenora from Cape Town. I tried to find info on her but hit a dead end. I do have info on the Parrish's and Enscoe but anything you have I would love to go over. I did this research for my dad as a fathers day present 3 years ago, he knew nothing about his grandfather (which was Raymond Millett, grandson of Jennie Parish and Joseph Robert Enscoe. I believe Joseph Enscoe born in 1830 was my great-great-great grandpa so we are probably distant cousins?

I, too, am related to Joseph Enscoe. My late father, Gerry Enscoe, was Joseph's great grandson and assembled some information on his lineage.Joseph was born in Birmingham England in 1830 and married Lenora Thompson of Cape Town South AFrica. Their son, Joseph Robert was born in Downieville, Calif. in 1862. He married Jennie Parrish of Beckwith, Cal. I have more info if you are interested.

Hi. I’ve recently started working on my family tree. I was looking at Kurt Inscoe Hahn's website "The Journey of Eight Families." I found a Rueben Inscoe(Inscore) and it referenced the books you've published. I'm not sure if I'm his descendant, but if I am, I'd love to purchase your books!!

My Inscore link is.... My paternal grandma is Mattie Patricia Ray (April 12 1932 –May 2 2004). She is the daughter of Hershell Costa Ray (April 3 1894-May 10 1961) and Lettie Violet Inscore (March 29 1904-Jan 3 1994). I think her mother was Martha Elizabeth Terry(3/12/1871-6/3/1950) and her father Charles Busbee Inscore(9/11/1874-3/5/1920). I'm not sure where she was born, but I know she lived her married life in Carolina Pines/Caraleigh in Raleigh, NC and died in Wake County, NC.

It would be great if you could check your database to see if my G-Grandma is in it! I would love to share all our family info! And to purchase your books!!

Thanks in advance!!
christina Sealey Czysz

enscoe - california

I'm related to Joseph R. Enscoe in Sacramento in the late 1800's - 1943. His father is Robert Enscoe from England and his mother Leona (I don't know if this is a first or maiden name) is from Cape Town South Africa. I can't find any records or a census connecting these people together. Only from Joseph's death cert. I have a Robert Enscoe immigrating from England to New York in 1851 and then going to Sacramento but nothing as a father to Joseph (born 8/1862) or married to a Leona. Can you help me with any of this? Thank you!

My grandmother Myrtle Lee Inscore was the daughter of Levitcus V. Inscore. She was born in 1897. Census records show that her mother was Mary but family says no it was Molly. Further, I can find no records to show who Leviticus' parents were. The 1900 census shows them living in Franklin County, North Carolina. Any help you can offer would be appreciated very much.

I have been told the name originates in Scotland. My wife and I went to a Scottish fair close to our home recently but could not find the name listed with any of the clans. I would be interested in any information you have on this subject.
RInscore2@msn.com

Shelby - hi. I just saw your name on Ancestry.com regarding the Inscoe Family that was posted on Sep 12, 2000 and this one posted . I am related to GW Radford and Sallie Inscoe and interested in any information you would like to share. GW & Sallie's daughter, Mary Radford, was my Great-grandmother. I have some information - mostly on Radford/Mosely/Varker sides, but I'm very interested in pursuing this line to complete. Also, I understand from one of the other postings that you had/have a book on the Inscoe family. I would be very interested in getting a copy if it's still available. Please respond to my home e-mail gragg02@adelphia.net (that way I can catch it in the evening and weekends).
