I may be related to an opera singer named Giovanni Iovino from Sicily. A cousin of mine found him and thinks our grandfather who immigrated here in 1904 from Lercara Friddi and his grandfather were brothers. I am not so sure.

My great grandfather was Pietro Iovino who came to NYC in 1906 from Lercara Friddi in Sicily. Pietro's wife was Rosalia Abbate. Children: Stefano (who I think was an undertaker), Salvatore, Antonino, Carmela, Giuseppe and Gaspare. The children would have been born in Lercara in the 1880's and 1890's. Some of them may have Americanized their names, and Iovino became Iovin.
