Buell/ Irish/ Pickens/Fitch

Looking for info on Helen and Emma Buell, they were the children of Amanda Irish Buell (1822 New York). Emma married John Pickens and i think her sister married Will or Willie Fitch. I'm trying to piece my family together. My mother died when i was a small child. Several names in the mix. I can see in the census that Helen FItch and Emma Pickens live close, that what makes me believe they are sister's. Than they both get babies bearing the Chandler name.

Our family descends from Cora Irish b. c1865 Lamoille, Hyde Park Twnshp., Vt. m. Arthur James (James Arthur) Pixley c1880 in Lamoille. Their son was my grandfather, but they may have also had: Stella & Anna?
My grandfather was adopted his Arthur James' father James M. Stella-who died young. Was she named after his 'sister'?
This line has been a real problem...nothing but 'dead-ends'
Do any of these names 'ring a bell' with anyone?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
For more on these lines you can check out my website:
pixleyblair.tribalpages.com
Thanks
Email: troypix@webtv.net

Not much to go on, sorry, it's all I have.
Thanks for any assistance!
Judith

Thomas Irish, adopted(?) out to Coner family, Ingham Conty, Michigan.

Recently, I found I have a 3x's great grandmother Irish. She had a son, Thomas Irish. She "farmed him out"/adpted him out, possibly to a Catholic orphanage. Thomas was eventually adopted by a family named Corner. Thomas died in 1936. Grandma Irish and her sister, possibly named Rose are buried together in an old cemetery, DuBois cemetery, Ingham County, Michigan on Every. Rd. All the headstone says is " Irish" "Blanchard". We have recently been given old photos of grandma irish and her sister, but no 1st. names. My family line is as follows; Irish/Corner/Watkins/Keenan. The family was all and around mason, Michigan. They had farms. Anyone with any knowledge of this, or even an idea, PLEASE contact me. Looking forward to hearing from someone.......

Pardon's missing Daughter

A Soper researcher has received a copy of Pardon's War of 1812 Service Record and a copy of his application for Land Grant.

There is not much important in it except that Pardon volunteered for 6 months service in New York 6th Art. Regiment. It says that he was injured after 2 weeks of service and was sent home. According to the service record, Pardon cut the tendons in one leg "off".

There is also a letter from the family dated 1867 that says Pardon and Deborah both have been dead for 7 years (1860).

The letter further says that Pardon and Deborah had 8 children that all beyond the age of 37 and that all of them were living in 1860. But it lists 9. The list adds a daughter named Mary to those listed in the Irish book.

Does anyone have any idea who this Mary would have been.
Irish-DuBoise Cemetery

To all of you who have been discussing the Irish families of
the DuBoise Cemetery I will tell you of my experience. I was
there in 1995, it is a cemetery in a farmers field, he was a
very nice man who let me explore the cemetery and did
suggest that I attend the next Alaiedon Twp Board meeting
which I did to see about getting the cemetery cleaned and
taken care of like he tried to do. I did just that but was
unsuccessful in the attempt. Maybe since then it has been
cleaned and is being taken care of that I do not know. Until
just lately I had been going quite regularly to the Lansing
Library in Ingham Co and collected this on the family.
From a book by the D.A.R.: Ingham County Cemetery Records Duboise Cemetery Alaiedon Twp. Section 3
Irish, Abel (Stone erected by son, F.B. Irish) Veteran of War
of 1812 d June 27, 1873 79y 3m
Irish, Albert A. son of T.B. & Sarah Irish d. July 12, 1885 66y 9m 12d

I have 4 pictures overlooking the entire cemetery along with
pictures of the stones of Sumner Irish and his obit and Mary
Irish and the stone of Catharine A.
Edwin Adelbert IRISH's mother

Who was she?

Thanks in part to the New York State Censuses, posted on the Orleans County GenWeb Site, I have discovered that his father was Amos IRISH, son of Charles IRISH and Amy BROWN, born 12 June 1819 in Otsego County, NY. Charles and Amy and some of their children had moved to Monroe County, NY prior to 1850.

Edwin Adelbert IRISH (known as Del or Delbert) was born 27 July 1848 in Brockport, Monroe County, NY.

In 1855 Adelbert, age 6, is listed in his father's household in Clarendon, Orleans County, NY.

In 1865, Delbert IRISH, age 16, is listed in Murray, Orleans County, NY, as an apprentice to blacksmith Jacob WELLER, which confirms a family story.

In 1865, his father, Amos IRISH is listed in Kendall, Orleans County, NY; the column asking number of times married is marked "3". With him are his third wife Susan (daughter of Reuben McDONALD and Sarah FENNER), and their son Reuben. Susan is NOT Edwin Adelbert's mother--she did not marry Amos IRISH until after the 1850 census, and their son Reuben was her only heir.

Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate Amos IRISH in either the 1850 or 1860 census.

Amos IRISH died 8 May 1870 in Kendall, Orleans County, NY.

Sometime prior to the 1870 census, Edwin Adelbert IRISH moved to Van Buren County, MI, where most of his father's siblings were living.

Please help me find Edwin Adelbert IRISH's mother!
IRISH family in Cheddar and Somerset

Recently I discovered on a death certificate that my gr gr gr Grandmother Mary Irish was born in Cheddar, Somerset circa 1808. She married Peter Yeo, who was a tailor from Devonshire, in Bristol. I would welcome any advice from people with connections to the Irish family in and around Cheddar as to where to find any information on Mary and her family. Maybe someone already has her mentioned on a twig!
Thanks. Robyn

Irish Phillips in 1795

I am searching for records of Irish arriving in the US in 1795. So far I have found none. My gg grandfather received his citizenship in 1808 in Carlisle, PA. He was 9 years old in 1795 when he arrived from Ireland. I do not know where he arrived or with whom he came. I was hoping to find a ship's passenger list that might give me a lead, but I have not found any for 1795. Surely there must have been some Irish who arrived in 1795?

Thanks for any help.
Bob Phllips

I am looking for information on the possible truncation of the Irish name to Iris perhaps in error, perhaps by design. I came upon some sketchy info but so far if has not yielded anything of value. This info would appear to be from the Ontario Irishs' that came from Vermont in the late 1700's. Any info is appreciated

This is like searching for a needle in a haystack...

I am seeking information on Catherine Irish (circa 1800). Unfortunately I don't have any vital stats on her. She is the daughter of John Irish (again, no vital stats), and Mary Sprung (b. 1788 in New York State, d. April 1, 1875). It is believed that Mary died in Ameliasburg Township, Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada, although no death record can be found for her. Mary married 3x and Catherine is the only issue from the 2nd marriage.

Any help at all would be appreciated!

Regards,

Lori

A new found document shows that Margaret Irish (d/o Augustus Nelson) IS NOT married to Jasper Case, nor John Shuck as is found web-wide.

The Margaret IRISH that was married to Jasper CASE, and to John Shuck, is the daughter of Charles & Persis Irish, according to the 1915 marriage application of Margaret Irish Case and John Gordon Shuck. The 1860 NY census verifies Margaret's claim of her parents' names, and shows her and her siblings.

You can view this marriage application and the census records on my homepage, under the Margaret Irish link:
http://loricase.com
