ATALISSA, Iowa -- Dale R. Irwin, 51, Atalissa, died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, at his home.
The Rev. Susen LeBlanc will officiate the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Iowa City Hospice, Iowa City, IA. The Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, West Liberty, is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Irwin was born May 12, 1953, in Pontiac, Mich., the son of Ray and Bessie Vliet Irwin. He married Andrea Jones Dec. 31, 1992, in Pendleton, Ore.
He graduated from Waterford-Kettering High School, Waterford, Mich., in 1971.
He had been employed at General Motors for 11 years, prior to his career in law enforcement. The last 22 years were spent in law enforcement, being certified in Michigan, Virginia, Nevada and Iowa. He worked with the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution for several years. In 2000, he worked with Dyna Corp. who was contracted with the United Nations where he spent time in Bosnia as a Human Rights investigator. He returned to Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution for another year before moving to West Liberty where he was a sergeant with the West Liberty Police Department.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jamie Babcock of Lapeer, Mich., and Heather McMinn of Lake Orion, Mich.; a stepson, Scott Schuening of Pendleton; four sisters, Marion David of Montrose, Mich., Jerry Ann Rehn of Goliad, Texas, Jane Breeden of Lapeer, Mich., and Kathy Campbell of Oxford, Mich.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
