Hi! My dad was born on 2/26/05, and died on 11/9/95. I have one question about the Maria Martello though. My grandmother never came to America. My dad always said that my grandfather, Constantino, came to America before marrying my grandmother. I think he went to West VA, and he liked it here. However, she wouldn't leave Italy. So he came back to Alife, and they married. So I don't know about the Maria you mention?

No, my Uncle John (Giovanni) never left Italy. He was born in 1900, my father's oldest brother and never married. I think that the John you are talking about is the one that came to visit my dad too. He lived in Queens, NY. He was the son of Tommaso Isabella, hence my dad's and your grandfather's first cousin. I remember that when this John Isabella visited, he had a picture of his dad, Tommaso, and he looked just like my grandfather and my dad!

Well I have the actual ships manifest of your fathers journey to New Castle Pa from Naples on Nov 18th 1923 The ship was named The Dante Alighieri he was 18yrs old and lists his father as Constantino. He also states he is going to Uncle Giuseppe Isabella (my Great Grand Father)on 53 Long Ave in New Castle, PA. I have the actual pictures of this on my website of this! Now we need the pictures of him and I also need the actual birthdate and date he passed please. I also have pictures of ship manifest where it shows Enrichetta Martello (my great Grand Mother) bringing her sister Maria Martello and Brother List Martello here on Feb 20 1906 on the Citta Di Napoli So yes Maria Martello and Enrichetta (Rigetta) were sisters and marries the Isabella brothers there was also a sister of Giuseppe and Constantino named Anna Maria ...did your father ever mention having an aunte? This is very exciting for me... I hope you can share pictures i'd reeally love to perserve our family in time! I have attached the pics of ship manifest showing your father!
Hi! There were 8 in my dad's family. This is the order: Giovanni,Luigi,Antonio,Filomena,Giuseppina,Luiga,Concetta and Tommasina. My dad and my aunt Contetta were the only ones to emmigrate to the U.S. My mom's name was Giovannina Palmieri (born in Southington, CT) We were 5 children born to Antonio and "Jennie", as my mom was called. Rosemarie, born 8/10/27; Constantino, born 3/28/29; twins - Maria and Gloria, born 3/15/31 and myself, Joanna, aka Joanne many years later on 4/13/52. All of my sisters and my parents are dead. Only my brother, Constantino survive. My aunt Concetta came over as a war bride in the 40's when she married my mom's brother, Domenico Palmieri, when he was stationed in Italy during WWII. They only had one daughter Maria, my double cousin, born on 1/09/48.
I haven't seen the family tree, because I am not a paid member. I just happend to be searching prevalence of the name Isabella in Italy. By the way, I don't think that there are many Isabella's in Alife any longer. There are probably women who are Isabella's but carry their husband's name. Thanks for giving me your e-mail. I know that my brother will be very interested in this!
Hi! I actually met Vennata in Italy in 1960 when I visited Alife with my parents. My dad told me that she was my grandfather Costantino's sister. Her married surname was Melillo and her son Andrea actually came to America around the same time as my dad and lived in Shirley, LI, NY. Salvatore was the uncle in New Castle who called for my dad, Antonio, in 1923. It is quite possible that my grandfather and your great-grandfather were married to sisters? My dad kept in touch with his cousin Sisto Martello. They lived in Long Island as well. He and his wife died, and we have lost contact. At one time a John Isabella, I believe that his dad was Tommaso Isabella visited us. His family lived in Queens, NY.
Yes, I am related to Isabella Carting. The business was my dad's (Antonio) and my brother Constantino(changed the spelling a bit!) and his son John Isabella run it!

I don't have a family tree, and just one picture of my grandparents, (Costantino and Maria), but I will have to ask my kids how to attach it!

By the way, I have come across a cartoonist by the name of Tony Isabella who does work for Marvel. I know he has to be related. In addition, I actually have some cousins in Montreal, so we are all over.

Hi John, My name is Joanne (Isabella) Conte. My dad came from Alife in 1923. His dad was Costantino Isabella and his mom was Maria Martello. He came to New Castle PA and stayed with a relative named Salvatore Isabella. My dad's grandparents were Giovanni Isabella and Filomena De Lorenzo. My dad married my mom Giovanina Palmieri who was born in Connecticut, but whose parents also came from Alife. After marrying my mom, they moved to the Bronx where I believe that my dad said he had 2 uncles (I think Tomaso and Giuseppe.) I don't know all the particulars, since my mom and dad had their first 4 children young and then they had me in their 40's, so I heard all the stories second hand! Good luck with your research, but I do think that we are related! I also know that there are Isabella's in Long Island, Staten Island and Connecticut.

I am looking for the Isabella and Martello surnames coming out of Caserta Italy. My great grandfather Giuseppe (Joseph) Isabella came over in the mid/late 1890s, returned to Italy and then brought his family over in 1900. His wife Reggetta Martello Isabella and his elder son, Joseph, arrived in New York in 1900 and in that same year my grandfather, George Isabella. was born. The family resettled in the New Castle / West Pittsburg area. George was married to Ethel Means Isabella and they had four living children, Eugene, June, Regetta, Joseph. Any information regarding this side of my family would be greatly appreciated.

Fran,

I am not the same Caryn you mentioned in your e-mail, however, I will get back to you on a possible relationship. My family is from Brooklyn. My grandfather was Louis. He was born in Italy. He was married to Lena Potenza. He had 3 children Antionette, Natale (my father) and Grace. As far as I knew his brothers stayed in Italy. I have heard some stories from my Aunts that I want to verify. My grandfather and grandmother lived in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn. I also lived in that house for 10 years. I will see what more I can dig up and get back to you. Thank you, Caryn

Hi Catherine, I am just beginning my family research and I have come along Guiseppe Isabella's name. I believe he had a son or brother named Pasquale that was married to my g-g-g-aunt and her name was Cristina Cacciolfi. She came here from Caserta as well in 1909. And she and an Isabella(??) had 4 children that she brought over with her they were Pasquale, Antoinetta, Maria and Concetta ( they must be twins). They came to Ellis Island in May of 1909 and their destination was Cleveland Ohio.
If you have any information on Cristina and who she married I would greatly appreciate anything you might have where this is the start for me and I will share with you any information I may have about Guiseppe that you might be looking for. Thank you in advance~~Joelle
