Hello. I dont know if you will receive this message. I know that your post is quite old but I may be related. I have just posted a query of my own.

My great grandfathers name is Nathan and my grandfathers name was John. My mother was born in Texas in 1953, only child of my grandmothers but she suspected other children may exsist.

I know that she told me that Nathan was a student at the University of Kansas, which is 30 miles from where I live now. He was also the founder of Philips Oil?

If this means anything I would love to chat. It would be great to find family. Thanks
Jennifer Thomas

Isenbergers from the Midwest US

Hello,

my mother is the great grand daughter of one Nathaniel Isenberger. She was born in Corpus Chriti, TX in December of 1953.

Her fathers, my grandfather, name was John Isenberger. He passed in 2005? from unknown circumstances.

My grandmothers name was Helen Breeden and was from Kansas City Missouri. I know that she and John met in Kansas City sometime in the late 1940's, early 1950's. They were married and divorced by 1955.

All I know about this part of my family is that supposedly my great grandfather was the Co Founder of Philips Oil in Texas and that my grandfather also worked oil wells all over the south and west.

I would like to know more about my mothers family. My grandmother stated that John was a "ladies man" and thought he may have other children.

If any of this sound familiar please let me know. It would be wonderful to find family. Thank you
Jennifer

I realize your message was posted 4 yrs ago but I just "stumbled" upon it. I have a Sarah Carr b abt. 1840 in IN who married Samuel D. Isenburg (however their name was also Isenberger, Eysenberger, etc. etc.) they were married in 1861 in Peoria, IL and moved to Kansas ca 1876. I have a lot of info on the later Isenburgs as Samuel D. was my gg grandfather. I could furnish you with this if you are interested. I have nothing on the Carr's other than that Sara's father was William b ca 1815 and would appreciate anything you have.

I have found records that Jacob Isenberger was the son of Jacob E Isenberger, he was born in 1790 in PA. Jacobs mother was Ana Eva Imig, born 1856 in Germany and died 1938 in Illinois. My maiden name is Isenberger. My father was Claude born in 1899 and died in 1963. Let me know if this helps and if you have any other info. I would like to find how the Isenbergers got to PA and where they came from.

You have probably received information by now, but Rachel was the daughter of Samuel and ? JONES. I am trying to learn the mother's name. My dad said it was Rachel or Catherine (Katie) Conat. I have no other proof. She must have died around 1840 as that is when the last child, Daniel, was born. Samuel is then living at Ft. Madison, Iowa, Lee County in the 1850 census with the two smaller children.

I am researching Mabel E. Isenberger, b. September 25, 1882, Niota, Illinois - Hancock Co., d. October 1936 (?), Big Timber, Montana - Sweetgrass Co. She is the oldest child of George Washington Isenberger and Mary McMahon. George Washington Isenberger was one of the sons of Rachel and Jacob. Mabel married Charles Rupert in Montana about 1900. She may have died in 1936, but that is contradictory to courthouse records where she reported her husband's death in 1951.

Looking for information regarding the family of Lavadel Isenbarger
also went by Lava and mainly Della. She was born in Ohio in Sep 1891 and was first married in 1908 to Truman Ben Patten Marion, Ohio, then Jack Wagner Toledo, Ohio, last known husband was Ira E. Carter- Della and Ira Carter were of Lima, Allen Co., Ohio. She died in the 1970's in Lima. Her sons were Raymond and Virgil Patten.

Have located Lavadel living with her brother Erwin and grandparents Alex&Martha Glasco 1900 Hardin Co., Oh I believe her parents are Addie Glasco-Isenberger and Joseph Isenberger both found married but enumerated at their places of work in Hardin Co.. I have traced Joseph back to his parents Joseph Arnold (bn PA) and Susan Isenbarger/Isenberger, other children Sarah, David, Mehalia, Lavina, William, and Margaret. 1860 census has Joseph living near Jacob (bn VA) and Mary Isenberger, children Mary, Matilda, Martha, twins Jasper/Uradine, Catherine, Laura, Florence, Jesse (bn 1877). Does anyone recognize these families??

LOOKING FOR CLAUDETTE SHELBY. . .

I came across the below message that was posted back in 2000 and I probably have information for you, my name is Jacob Isenberger and our family history goes back very closely. . .

Hi, I am looking for the parents of Jacob ISENBERGER and Rachel JONES. Jacob ISENBERGER was born 14 Apr 1813 Akron, Summit, OH and died 10 Jan 1876 Burlington, Des Moines, IOWA. Jacob married Rachel JONES bor 17 Jan 1821, Copley or Akron, Summit, OH and died 9 Apr 1908.

Jacob and Rachel had 14 children, 7 boys and 7 girls. The above mentioned surnames are all the families that I have found that have married into this family. (Please note: Several of the surnames have variations in their spellings) The families lived mainly in Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, Kansas, and my branch went to California.

My great grandma was Leora Francis ISENBERGER, one of the 14 children. She was married to Amos Milton SWIGERT.

If there are any others researching these families or know of the parents of Jacob and Rachel, I would love to share information.

Thanks,
Claudette LaLonde Shelby

Re: ISENBERGERS FROM MIDWEST 1800

My son, Jacob Harold Isenberger ran across this posting and wondered if it was part of our clan. Generally speaking if the name is spelled the same we are related somehow. My Grandfather and Great Grandfather were both Jacob Oscar Isenberger. The next generation back was George H.Isenberger born in 1819 in Maryland and married to Deliah Powers born in 1824 in Pennsylvania. The first Jacob Oscar was born in Pine Creek Illinos in 1858 and moved to Burt Iowa where the next Jacob Oscar was born in 1889. My father and siblings were born in Burt. Dad was three years old when they moved to Stanley WI. The limited information I have does not include a Jacob married to Rachel. I sent the information to my dad to see if it would jog his memory. I also have an aunt who has done quite a bit of research on the family and she may have some information for you.

Isenberger

Hi there....

Im not exactley sure if this is the right place for this or not. But I happened to look up my Great Grandfathers name on Google and it led me here. His name was Nathan Isenberger and according to my grandma he was the Co Founder of Phillips Oil, or Phillips 66. I know that my grandfathers name is John Isenberger and my mother was born in Corpus Cristie Texas in December of 1953. My grandparents were divorced not too long after and my grandma moved back to Kansas where our family comes from. I met my grandfather once when I was about 12. Then he died my Junior year in High School in 1994(???) The only information that I have is from my grandmother who wasnt the type to make stories. She had told me that My Great Grandfathers name is in the Campinelle at the University Of Kansas witch I have actually seen. She also told me there is a bust of him in the geology building on the campus of KU. Anyway...my mother was an only child and as far as we know she has no other (half) brothers and sisters. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone???? Thnaks.

Jenn Thomas

My great, great grandmother was Rebecca Isenberger, a sister of Lenora. She married Isaac Hammond and they settled near Augusta, Kansas in 1871. I've visited Niota, Ill and obtained some information on the family, but no pictures. I have an obit from their mother Rachel in 1908, a brother, James 1943 and the father, Jacob from 1876 and lots of information on Isaac and Rebecca Hammond. From Ancestry.com, tells that Jacob was born to another Jacob (1790) and his father was Henry (1770).

Rachel's father was Samuel W. Jones and Katie Cunad both of Welch decent. They had Rachel, Sarah, Sanmuel, John and S.W. Jones. I would like to share any information.
