Hi Laura, I do not have Washington Isett anywhere. I always thought all Isett's came from Barbara and Frederick and Jacob, but recently I was told (I think by Sue Palmer from previous threads) that there were a couple more that started in Maryland or New Jersey and migrated also to Huntingdon County in Pennsylvania. I would guess they would have been somehow related to Barbara etc, since they ended up in the same town. You can download my Gedcom from Rootsweb, or from my website, www.bonniekgorman.net. I am on my way out or I would send it to you directly. I would love to see what you have, in hopes of filling in some blank spots. Let me know how you connect. Hope this helps. Bonnie

Hi Bonnie,

I have been compiling a seperate PAF for Isett as I've been doing my Isetts genealogy. I am stuck on Washington Isetts, born ca. 1832 probably in Huntingdon, PA. Anyway, because the name is so unusual, and I'm certain most of us are descended from Barbara and her sons Frederick and Jacob, I have the Isett file. I would very much appreciate any information you have. Maybe you could send me a GEDCOM. You can reach me on my e-mail at laurareed2005@aol.com if you like. Again, thank you.
Laura
Hello Bonnie. I am most interested in Jacob's wife, Margaret Culberson Macclay, and her mother, Mary Palmer, who married William Maclay. The Jacob Isett, son of John Stockdale Isett and Mary Bell, you mentioned was married to Margaret Culberton Maclay. In some documents, Margaret is referred to as Margaretta.

Received information from two fellow list members (thanks Deb Fisher and Lee Campbell) including very good information regarding the wills of Jacob and Margaret Isett.

Have found Jacob and Margaret Isett in the 1860, 1870, 1880 and the widowed Margaret in the 1910 census (still searching the 1900 census).

Any information you have on Jacob Isett's wife Margaret would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Sue Palmer

James K. Isett - Huntingdon Co., PA

I am searching for information on the parents of James K. Isett, who was born near Marklesburg in Huntingdon Co., PA. He was born in 1813. In 1820, his mother filed through orphan's court documents to get him a legal guardian, as his father had absconded to parts unknown to her. She filed as the late Elizabeth Isett, now Elizabeth Matthew. So, sometime between 1813-1820, she remarried to a man named Matthew. Thomas Lloyd was appointed James' legal guardian, and he was then bound out to a farmer named Moore. As far as I know, Jameas was the only child of Mr. Isett and Elizabeth. In 1836, James K. Isett married Elizabeth Garner, and they raised a large family in Marklesburg.

In the Tytoona Cave Preserve site which is in Blair County, PA, the History section mentions the Isett family from before 1795 and from 1805. One of the homes mentioned is still standing.

http://www.caves.org/region/mar/tytoona.htm

Margaret Mcclay, born about 1830 in Huntingdon County, PA (probably Shirley Twp). She was the daughter of John Palmer and Elizabeth Ashman. Margaret married Jacob Isett, born about 1828 in Pennsylvania. Margaret and Jacob had a daughter Margaret born about 1848.

In 1860, Jacob and Margaret, daughter Margaret, and the elder Margaret's mother Mary Palmer (her maiden name) Mcclay, were in the Clarksburg area, between California and Tipton, Missouri. By 1870 they were in Penn Township, Huntingdon County, PA. In 1880 in Franklin Township, Huntingdon County, PA.

Does anyone have these folks in their family tree?

Sue Palmer

Saw your posting and thought that maybe you could help me with some information. Would you be related to Frank E Isett.
I am trying to find some family history - such as Frank's parents, grandparents, etc. I am Frank's great granddaughter. I remember visiting with he and my grandmother Barbara - I believe that she was his second wife. The first wife died young. I know that my mother Mary Lou has told me about an uncle Philip - If I have my stories straight they teased each other because even though Philip was her uncle he was younger than she was!

I am not for sure if this is the one you are looking for. I know of a Lauman Isett who went by the nick name of Mike. I am unsure of his birthplace but know that he married in Kansas to Lucinda Evans - had two daughters. Divorced and then moved to Dallas, Texas and remarried and I believe that he had a son there. His father was Frank E Isett. How are you related?

My grandfather was Ernest Lester Hankamer and my mother is Leslie Fanelle Hankamer Thurman. I have always run up against a wall trying to get anythink on the Icet family. Some info in Chambers county about Willam Icet and sons and shipbuilding, but not much else. I have not done any research lately and was just looking up names. It is nice when names are sort of obscure like this.
