LILLIAN E. ISRAEL , 92, died March 15, 2003, in Santa Fe. She was born and raised in Canada and became a U.S. Citizen in 1955. She had a bachelor of arts, with majors in psychology and education, and was a registered nurse. She was active in community affairs since 1952, serving on local boards of Girl Scouts, League of Women Voters, Red Cross, Hospital Auxiliary, Family YMCA, Women's Golf Association, Little Theatre, Opera Guild, Heart Association, Episcopal Church and the Planning and Zoning Commission. She was also active on a state level as a member of the National Council of State Garden Clubs from 1965 in various capacities: State President, Nominating Committee member, Radio & T.V. Chairman, South Central Regional Director, and Scholarship Chairman. She was a volunteer in numerous other activities on local and state levels, including Los Alamos Planning and Zoning Commission. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harvey I. Israel in 1978. She is survived by her son, Graham McManus and wife Sandra; four grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, all living in Canada. No services are planned. The body has been cremated and will be buried next to her late husband in Guaje Pines Cemetery. McGee Memorial Chapel.
