I am not sure if anyone named I vers came to MN but a Lawlor girl married one of my Brown ancestors that came from Tingwick to Renville County, MN.

If your ancestors came to Tingwick around 1824, check on the Peter Robinson immigrnts from 1823 and 1825. The English sponsored anumber of poor Irish to migrate to Canada. Peter Robinson was the British agent charged with selecting the families to be sponsored. He sent seven ships in 1823 and 13 ships in 1825.

The people were sent intially to Peterborough, Ontario. From there they spread far and wide. My Brown ancestors came in 1823 and Buckleys came in 1825. I never checked for Lawlor or Ivors. But the Tingwick area was heavily Irish as was nearby towns such as Warwick. Some still live in the area, though they are now more French than Irish.

We are looking for the origin of the Iver/Lawlor famalies probably from Co. Mayo. They emigrated about 1824 to Tingwick, Quebec. Some moved to Mnchester, N. H. (Edward and Patrick famalies.)Renveille Co, Mn has not gotten their
cemeteries recorded as yet. Co Mayo Historical centers don't have early 1800 records. There ar no immigration records for this time either.

I don't know if this is the same Ivers family but in a book I have entitled Families of County Kerry--Vol. II of the Book of Irish Families, great & small by Michael C. O'Laughlin, president, I.G.F. 1994-Box 7575, K.C. Mo. 64116 p. 84 it lists: Ivers, Howard
Edw. of oakview Terrace and James of New street are given in Co. Kerry. King lists Howard as a form of Ivers.
That is all I could find, I hope this helps a little

In 1868 a group of Irish families left the Tingwick area of QC and migrated to Renville County in south-central Minnesota. Known families were Brown, Goggin, Gleason, Buckley, Sullivan, and Murphy. It is believed that one or more Ivers and Lawlors also came to the same area of MN after the first group.

Other Irish families that stayed in the Tingwick area include Mullens, Ling, and various French families, plus members of the MN families that stayed in QC.

If anyone seeda possible connection give me a holler

Ivers from Mayo to Birmingham

I am looking for help finding my Ivers ancestors. The earliest I know are Thomas and Mary Ivers who I find first in the 1861 England Census. They had four children I know of: John, Bridget, James and Ann. Ann is my great grandmother. She married Owen McHale and they had three or four children, Mary Ann, Catherine, Ann and Owen. My grandmother and her two sisters were from an early age raised in the Certified Poor School run by the Sisters of Mercy and they became domestics and immigrated to the US. I think Owen died very young. Ann, my great grandmother can be found in the Birmingham workhouse where I think she died but I don't know when. Neither do I know what happened to her husband. If you recognize this family, I'd love to hear from you.

Jan McLaughlin

Hi Deb,
I realise that you might not get this message, as your original post is 10 years old!
I'm seeking information on the IEVER/IVER family on behalf of my step-mum, who descends from Johanna Tomkins (nee Iever). As far as I can make out (through public trees), Patrick was born in America (New York? to John and Johanna), and wife Margaret May Cronin was born in Cracklow, Ireland. They emigrated on 7 Jul 1883 from Plymouth, England to Australia on the ship named "La Hogue"... but before that, did they marry in Ireland, and have children Mary and Thomas there? I hope you're able to shed more light on their time in Ireland for me.
Many thanks, Rachel

I am an Ivers who I think came from Dublin. Edward O Ivers
born in 1815 in Ireland married a Mary Wood born in 1821 around 1840. They came to Ottawa, Canada in the early 1840's for a few years before migrating to Port Huron, Michigan in 1847. A relative, Sarah Ivers was married in
Port Huron stating on her marriage record that she was from Dublin. Also there was a James Ivers who lived in Port Huron and was born in Ireland. Wondering who we are connected to?? Do not know Edward Oliver Ivers father's name..shower on deathe record that parents are unknown.

Indeed your Maria may have been born in Manchester but there were other Marias. The Irish like the French Canadians have recurring names. Patrick and his wife, Mary Lawlor came over from the old country to Quebec and settled in the town of Tingwick. All their children were born in Quebec, including a Patrick who married one Ann Doudle and Edward who married Anna O'Meara (okay so far we have 2 Patricks and there are 2 Ann's. In about 1874 they migrated from Kingwick to Manchester NH. Edward and Anna had a daughter, Bridget who married Patrick Cronin (my great great uncle) and a daughter Maria (all 11 of Edward's kids were born in Canada. His brother Patrick and Ann also had a child named Marie (this may be your Marie) Patrick and Ann Dowdle (daughter of Georges Dowdle and Alice Flaherty) by the way were married Feb 20, 1844 in St. Michel Sherbrooke. this information comes from the Yourfolks.com website. It covers Catholic parishes in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. According to the 1880 US census, the Ivers lived on Pine St. in Manchester. Depending on where they would be either in St. Anne's parish or St. Joseph Cathedral Parish. St. Anne's recently closed but you might be able to ask at the offices at the Cathedral where the records were transferred to. You might find out where Rose Anna was baptized and go from there.
Good luck

Very interesting! Marie Ivers was supposedly born in Manchester, NH in 1867. You mentioned that Edward IS Patrick's son. How do you know that? Do you know when and where Edward was born?

I'm thinking that the one record I have that states Marie was born in NH may have been in error. I have been researching Marie Ivers and her daughtor Rose for some time now. Marie is my 2nd Great Grandmother. My research can be found here: http://www.eagleswind.com/ancestry/rose.htm

Are you a descendant of the Ivers family?

The family of Edward Ivers (Patrick Ivers'son) and his wife, Anastasia O'Mears moved to Manchester, NH with their 11 children. One of whom, Bridget married Patrick J. Cronin. If you check the Census for Ivers in Manchester, NH in about 1910 or 20, you'll get a list of their children's names.
In all probability they were members of St. Anne's church (the Irish church) or since they immigrated from the french part of Canada, they could have attended St. Augustine Parish on the next block.
Good luck

Oh my god! What a find. I will be careful of who we discuss this with, but I will tell my husband. His father is deceased along with Eileen and two other brothers. So all that is left is kids and their kids. I will have to dig up a picture and send it to you so you can see if you think there is a resemblance. I thought it was my imagination and eagerness to hook up with other family, but both my daughter and husband think it resembled him without telling him who she was. Wow I am so excited. We are today going to the cemetery to photo some gravestones. I will certainly pass hers on to you if you don't already have it. I have to digest this info, but I will be in touch. A family member says Lillian was born in Poplar Bluff, MO. Bernard may have married a Martha and lived in Midlothian, IL and had a daughter. email me with any other info/questions you have and I'll reply with the picture. I don't know how much info I may have, but maybe we can fill in the gaps together. Wow, still hard to believe a shot turned out like this. I figured you would say "no, can't be her". Thanks

Sharie

Sharie, yes, I am positive that Lillian Ivers is your husband's grandmother and is also my grandmother. It may not be a pleasant subject for your husband's family so I would be careful as not to hurt anyone's feelings. Lillian Ivers was married before she married Vincent Schraub. She was married to William Reed Ridge, at Resurrection Church in Chicago. They had five children. My Mom was one of them. My Mom wanted so much to see her mother again but it was not to be...Lillian died before my Mom could find her. We did, however, meet with Eileen. Eileen said her brothers were not happy about knowing that their mother, Lillian, had a previous family and didn't want to discuss it. I was thirteen at the time, and I am now fast approaching 60! So, that was a long time ago. Since then my Mom also has passed away. I can tell you that Lillian was loved by our family even though we never knew her. My Mother's memories were of a five year olds but they were loving memories. I would be more than happy to share information with you. Lillian is such a mystery! My Mom also remembered a serviceman brother, either Patrick or Bernard. Where do you suppose Lillian was from? Again, I would love to correspond with you and share information. Please tell me in what way her picture is remarkably like your husband. Hope to hear from you soon, Grace. Please email me at Gracelynn@aol.com. Thank you.

I am researching my husband's family. His grandmother's name was Lillian Ivers. I can't find any info on her other than married to his grandfather in 1930. His name was Vincent Schraub. Another family member said she had two brothers, Patrick and Vern. One of them was a WWII Vet. I've seen your family tree and don't think your Lillian is ours, but her picture is remarkably like my husband, so I thought I would ask if you found any further information and if you are sure she was married to "Ridge". In 1930 they lived in Cicero, IL. Thank you.

Sharie Schraub

I think we've communicated before about the Iwers family. Flensburg used to be Denmark. I'm quite familiar with that area of Germany. My family originally came from Rhendsburg, down the river to Suderstapel. One of the aunt's from Suderstapel married the fellow from Denmark. I think there has to be a connection between our families as there are not many Iwers in that region. There are Iwers from Texas related to us, and some from Louisiana, and I think I might have a connection to some from Iowa. I'm going to check my notes and get back to you.

Just saw this post for the first time. I know that Thomas Christian Iwers was born in Flensburg, S/H. I finally narrowed down that city when the 1930 census was published. Tom Iwers came to the United States in 1888 with his wife, Maria Asmussen whose parents were Thomas Asmussen and Helena Maria Gefke Asmussen.
