Ives in Canada

I'm looking for Ives family that lived in Burford Township, Upper Canada, from abt 1800 to 1830's. Persons are Nathaniel (married Horner) & Cicero, likely brothers, and Emmeline (possibly sister). These people were prominent landowners during this time, but can't find where they came from, or where they went.

WAPELLO, Iowa - Billy Dean Ives, 79, Wapello, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center.

Graveside Service will be 10 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009, at the Wapello Cemetery. Reverend Dan Doolin will officiate.

A memorial fund has been established for the benefit of the Keck Memorial Library, Wapello. The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello is providing the care and arrangements.

Billy was born on October 17, 1929, the son of Jesse Milton and Birdie Anna Trible Ives, in Tama. He married Winifred (Harrison) Reed on December 15, 1983, Wapello.

He graduated from Wapello High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He was a truck driver for JI Case Co.

He was an avid pool player and enjoyed cars. He was a member of the Wapello VFW Glenn Allen Post No. 5166.

He is survived by his wife, Winifred Ives of Wapello; four grandchildren, Mike and Bev Ecklund of Wapello, Dave and Dana Ecklund of Harrison, Arkansas, Brian and Debbie Thye of Oakville, and Lora Thye of Columbus, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty DeVilbiss and husband, John A. ‘Jay’, of Burlington; and a son-in-law, Henry Thye of Oakville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Glenda (Reed) Thye.

Who are the parents of Barton Ives? Are they the same parents as Russell Ives?

Are all the people you listed in your September 20th posting the children of the same couple? And if so, which one? I can see where you indicated the children of Barton & Betsy as well as the children of Franklin & Lucretia, but I'm not sure who the parents of those individuals are.

If you have the siblings of Russell that would be helpful. I could fill in a few details on Mary and Augusta from census records... do you know if and when they married?

Also, I noted that I could only find two children and that they were born after more than ten years of marriage. Is there any indication that there were other children?

I am intrigued by this, as in my maternal line (especially the Rice/Royce line) there appears to be a number of women who have children "later" in life or have difficulty conceiving until later in life. Could just be a coincidence, or later marriages, but I am always curious about patterns. Another pattern is that often the Rice/Royce men in my little part of the line don't marry or have children! That's been a hold-up on doing any DNA research on my part of that line!

I am searching for information on my grandfather, Robert Ives, born 5 Nov 1886 in Pennsylvania. Family later moved to Michigan where he married Frances (or Francis) (maiden name unknown) and had two children, Violet and LaVern (1910). Soon after divorced Frances, married Olive and had several more children. According to census records it seems he moved west where he worked as a blacksmith. Any information would be welcomed.

Would like to have more male Ives descendants take a DNA test. My uncle Lindsay Clare Ives (we are descended through William's son John) just took the Y chromosome 46 marker test and the results came back as group R1a. Would love to see how our DNA compares. So far someone with the last name Ariail actually matched pretty closely and that person had a Chloe Ives in their background who's father is listed as Zachariah Ives.

I think I have quite a bit of info about this family line - and there are several cousins who have contributed. Euphemia, daughter of James Thomas Bostock IVES, was one of 5 chlidren of James and Mary. James was son Of Edmund IVES and Euphemia Snipe GLENDINNING, and Edmund was the son of William IVES and Hannah KINGS(T)ON. I am a descendant of another son of William and Hannah (William Wright IVES), and have had correspondence with descendants of both Edmund and Joseph Leaver IVES.

Lent Ives, b 14 Oct, 1910, d Dec 1981 married a relative of mine, Marian Baie, b ~1912. I was wondering if he was related, especially given that his name is Lent? They were married in State Center according to the wedding announcement but were planning on living in Des Moines. Both Lent and Marian attended the Teachers College in Cedar Falls.

Herbert Lee Ives (son of Titus and Hannah Jenne Ives) married Susannah Butterworth and moved to DeWitt, IL and then to Larkin, Barton, Kansas. Their children Herbert L. and Adela seemed to have remained there.

It would appear that that Caleb and Abigail were cousins -- although they would have only been 1/2 cousins (sharing only a grandfather -- not a grandfaterh and grandmother.)

It's my understanding that that's not necessarily that uncommon. Cousins are actually distant enough relations that a marriage won't necessarily produce kids with genetic issues unless it happens multiple times in the same family line.

Sorry for the long message but I feel it's needed.
Where to begin…
My father bought a box of photos from a sale about 20 years ago in North Florida, I assume. He had it stored in a warehouse since then. I have recovered this box, and being fanatical about old photos, I started to delve into who these people were/are. There are hundreds and hundreds of photos from the late 1800's to about the late 1930's or 40's. This looks like the contents of some grandmother's entire photo "drawer". Somewhere out there must be a family with no clue where all those old family photos went. I would like to reunite these pictures with the family.
I am going to try to list the places that the pictures were taken (at least the studio location), followed by the names associated with those places and do this in a sort of chronological order based on the type of photo formats used.

I found a Mary E. and Paul C. Hempy, sister & brother, at rootsweb. Also Charley L. Freed was their Uncle, brother to Mary E. Freed, their mother.

I found Mary Hempy and William Ives family photo with all of the children. Also Mary E. Hempy with her 4 youngest siblings. Lots of pictures of Ohio State University from @ 1932

While going through a 1922 copy of the Locomotive Engineers Journal I came upon a picture and biographical sketch for Fred C. Ives. If anyone would be intersted in a copy I will me more than glad to scan it and send. Mr. Ives was a member of Div. 503 of the Brotherhood. He was born March 1855. He appears to have lived mostly in Michigan

I have a picture of Almon Celon Ives (born 1856) and Carrie Martin (born 1860) and family. This picture was taken in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Their daughter Eleanor Ettna Ives is my great-grandmother, and married John Winchester Stone. I would be very interested in any other pictures family members may have. I also have some unidentified pictures that I believe are Ives relatives. Is there anyone who can help me figure out who is who?

I am related to Almon Celon Ives, who married Carolyn (Carrie?) Louise Martin. Almon was born in 1856 and is the son of Titus Ives and Hannah Genne. I would love to get more information about the other children and their spouses of Titus and Hannah.

I know it's nearly 2 years since the last posting, but I've just stumbled across your family tree website. I'm so impressed with what you've achieved! I am researching into the Ives in Bucks and got back as far as John Ives' birth in 1723 in Hughenden. I'm just curious as to how you made the connection that his father, John Ives (marriedd to Elizabeth Wright in Hughenden in 1722) was the same John Ives born in 1691 in Grendon Underwood? And again, how did you trace the Ives thread to Quinton and then to Great Milton?

By the way, William Ives (your ID 10389), is entered in your family tree as a birth date of about 1792. I think it's more likely to be 1797 or 1798. The transcript from the Hughenden parish birth index says 1797 and the 1851 census says he was born about 1798.

I am a direct descendant of William (1607-1648) and, lacking info at this time on his forebears, I have been doing research on all of the affine lines between William and myself. I'm using a "drill and fill" approach -- going back as far as possible in direct descendancies only - and could send you a 36Mb file on CD in either GENCOM5.5 or FTM2008 format on the information that I have found so far. Please send me e-mail at the address below if you would like a copy of this information. Many lineages have been pushed back pre-1000AD, and some of them pre-500AD.

My family line descends from William thru John, John, Lazarus, Timothy, Thaddeus, John, Norman Henry, Claud Dean, Clarence Frederick, Norma Virginia and me...
Would be glad to hear of other descendants. My uncle Lindsay Ives just too a 46 marker DNA test for me and it showed the paternal line to be R1a.
It also showed someone related to the Ariail Surname to be a close relative thru Chloe and Zachariah.

I just had my uncle Lindsay Clare Ives take the DNA test and he matched with a person who has Chloe Climelia Ives fathered by Zachariah Ives in their tree. I know that there is an "Ives Blog" if you google it that has lots of Ives history back to William Ives who came to and was one of the co-founders of New Haven, CT. He came to this country from England in the 1620's. Would love to hear from someone related to Chloe as there is probably a close DNA match. See the Nail-Sain family tree. Key name=Clarence Frederick Ives(my grandfather)

I am researching Herbert Ives , Almon's brother. Herbert is my great-great grandfather. Herbert married Susannah Butterworth in Illinois, they settled near Ellinwood Kansas (Lakin Township Barton County,) my great grandfather also Herbert L. born 1880, and my grandfather another Herbert L. born in 1910 in Ellinwood (my father- the last Herbert Lee born in 1932 in El Dorado) Would appreciate any information (pictures would be great!)

I'm confused. Caleb Ives (1695-1752) m. abt 1722 to Mary Abernathy (b. 1700).

They had a son: Nathaniel Ives who married Zerviah Blakeslee. They had the following children:

Then Caleb married 2d in 1732 Elizabeth Plumb (b. 1710)?

Caleb and Elizabeth had the following children:

So, am I correct that the 1695 Caleb's granddaughter Abigail married his son Caleb from his second marriage to Elizabeth Plumb?
