My name is Sharon Miller, and my Ivey genealogy is as follows. myself, Peggy Joy Ivey, Walker Franklin Ivey, John Isiah Ivey, John Litle Ivey, Isiah Ivey. There may also be a William Ivy as well. My family is said to be of cheokee decent. As well as choctaw and chicksaw. If anybody has any information on any of these people please let me know. I have been trying to piece together my heritage, but it has been difficult due to the lack of info. None of my family regestered, that I know of. Yet it has always been known that we are native american.

Thank You,
Sharon Miller

I'm trying to locate pictures of members of the Ivey family of McMinn Co., TN, who came to Lebanon, Laclede Co., MO. Specifically, I'm trying to find out if 2 pictures I have are of the same person. I have a photo of Aulsey N. Ivey, b. 1847, husband of Mary Jane Crockett. I have another photo of Eliza James Crockett with some younger people: Mary Jane (Crockett) Ivey is in it, and there is also a young man in it I believe to be her husband, Aulsey Ivey, b. 1847 McMinn Co., TN.

Can you help me with this problem? I would appreciate any scans anyone might have of the Ivey family.
Elinore

Anthony Ivey b. 1850 North Carolina d. 31 May 1809 Greene Co. GA

I've been remiss on my research lately, but am turning back to my Ivey lines. Anthony Ivey married Sarah (?) abt. 1782 and has eight children attributed to him, including an ancestor of mine, Elias Ivey, b. abt. 1790 Greene Co. GA, d. aft. 1832 Walton Co., GA.

Does anyone have the definitive account of Anthony's marriages and children? Anyone have information concerning Sarah, or her ancestors?

My Ivey DNA results put me in Adam Ivey's line, of which Anthony is a member, but that does not mean that Elias Ivey could not be found in another branch of this tree. Someone cast doubt on Elias being Anthony's son, and I am trying to clarify that.

John "J. K." Ivey
Austin, Texas

John A. Ivey born 1869 in Alabama

I am researching John A. Ivey who married Rosetta
(? surname) about 1890. I have found John on the 1900 - 1920 censuses for Covington county, Alabama and in 1930 in Conecuh county. After Rosetta died, John married Nancy Hartley. John died in 1939 in Covington county and is buried at Bushfield cemetery near Red Level. Does anyone know who his parents are? Thanks.

My g-grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Ivey, was born
in October 1856 (TN) to Robert and Margaret Ivey.
I know the following siblings' names found on the
1860 Campbell Co., TN Census: Rachael Ann, 10;
Absalam, 7; William, 6; Margaret, 2; and Alvis, 5/12.
At the 1860 census, Robert was 35; Margaret, 27.

I'm trying to determine several things:

Family folklore tells that Sarah may have been
Cherokee Indian. She married James Brock in 1876
(exact date/place unknown) and there is a Sarah Brock
listed in the 1896 Dawes Commission as a Cherokee. I
have often heard my father speak of the "Black Dutch" in
his family, which I know understand was a term that was
used by southern families to cover up their Indian blood.

2) Sarah apparently mothered eight children; however, in
the 1900 Campbell County, TN census, she and James have only
six children (these were the six about whom the family knew).
I'd also like to find out about the other two children.

Much thanks for any help with this family.

Ivy/Ivey from GA, AL, MS

Re-reading all the old Ivy messages, I came upon some informaion about Indian heritage and the Ivy name. My grandmother was Tera Ivy, married to James Luther Lee, in Lincoln/Lawrence Co., MS. Tera's father was George W. Ivey/Ivy, son of Levi Riley Ivey. Levi is shown in the 1870 Copiah co., MS census, but he is incorrectly listed as Riley Poy..obviously mis-read by the transcriber. I have listed a short outline tree with this message. I recently had my mtDNA tested, and it shows a American Indian lineage(haplotype A) that would have come through my mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and so forth. The names of the female line are listed below, and I would be glad to hear from anyone about this information. As you can see--the Ivy name would have not been connected with the Indian bloodline until Tera's birth, since it comes only through the mother of each generation, and the surname changes each time. Therefore, the female lines would have been: HARBIN, SMITH, MAXWELL, RUSSELL, IVY/IVEY.

Please reply to this message if you have any questions, comments, or would like to share information.

Mary Allen Valentine Murphy

Descendants of Sarah HARBIN

1 Sarah HARBIN
. +Isham SMITH, Sr.
....	2 Jemima SMITH
........ +Henry MAXWELL
...........	3 Sarah Amelia MAXWELL
............... +James Alexander RUSSELL
..................	4 William Marion RUSSELL
...................... +Haseltine CRANE
.........................	5 Willie Rhoda Eudora RUSSELL
............................. +Garey C.
widow of Daniel Ivy who died @ Vicksburg

I am looking for info on Mollie Smith Ivy Hurst. She was married to Daniel Ivy who died in 1863 @ Vicksburg. I'd like to know what Hurst's first name was, and what happened to them. Where did they live? Did they go on to have children? Mollie had an infant son, (William Thomas Ivey)who would've probably been the oldest. Other than that, I have very little on mollie and Mr Hurst's family. Thanks for any help.

I am a descendent of this line. Anyone have any suggestions of a possible immigration from the British Isles? Previous information about this line is very confusing and mised with others. Please read Bob Baird's research in this link. http://www.genfiles.com/ivey/iveyrobert1.html

There is a Ivey Y-DNA research going on that would be very interesting if more people from this line would be involved.

Nicknames or other names my Ivy/Ivey went by

I have
Phillips Ivey born between 1832 or 1833, in Tennessee, he is in Choctaw County Mississippi 1860, may have been in the civil war. I cannot find him after or before 1860. Sure would like to know more about him. He married Mary last name unknown.

Henry D. Ivy/Ivey he is the son of Phillips Ivey. He also went by H. D. In 1870 census he is listed as a Gammill. His mother remarried Charles or C. H. Gammill. In 1880 Henry is in Monroe County. His mother is now going by Mary Ivey. In 1900 Henry is in Navarro County Texas. There is also other Ivy's, do not know if they are connected. In 1910 he is in Stephens County, Texas. H. D. Ivey married Jency or Jencie Baugh in 1887 in Monroe County. H. D. Ivy died either in Arkansas or Texas. Jency is buried in Miller County Arkansas. Big question on what state H. D. passed away in. H. D. had four sons. They were:

1. Henry Oliver Ivy was born 1888 in Monroe County Mississippi. He went by Olvier, Oliver Henry, Oliver H. and Henry. He Married Margaret Edith Martin in 1907 in Texas. In 1900 he is Navarro County, in 1910 he is in a prision in Cherokee County Texas for stealing. In 1920 he is in Siever County, Arkansas. In 1930 he is in Young County Texas. Henry Oliver Ivy/Ivy is my grandfather. He is buried in Wichita County Texas with an unmarked grave.

2. John Calvin Ivy born in Mississippi. He went by Calvin Ivy. He is buried in Miller County Arkansas.

3. William Clinton Ivy born in Mississippi. He went by Clint. He is buried in Young County, Texas

4. Thomas Tillman Ivy born in Navarro County Texas. He went by Harry or Tillman. He is buried in Wise County, Texas

This family has been very hard to trace because of the names. I have found some of the information for the sons of H. D. Ivy and Jency Baugh, if anyone has more information, it would be great if you could share. I am especially interested in information on Phillips Ivey.
Thanks, Reta Ivy Britton
Richard Ivey in 1860 census of Alabama

Does anyone have any information on a Richard Ivey, born about 1820 with wife Elizabeth, children Allas, Lusey, Young, Barbra Ann, Lucinda, Malinda, Major P., Ephram, Francis, Nancy? Family is in Western Division, Walker, Alabama, according to the census. I think Richard may be connected to my Levi Reily Ivey, because of the name of one of Richard's sons, Major P. One of Levi's sons named a child Major Prentiss, and the name was carried on. I have been unable to learn who Levi's siblings and parents were. Levi does not appear in the 1850 census, the 1860 census, or the 1870 census. Family stories say that he died while on a trip to Georgia to visit family, and he was born in GA, according to census records of his children. Levi married Amanda Dulcina Wardlaw in Sumter, AL, in 1846, and had at least four children: George W., John Forrest, Robert Lee, and Theodora Docia. Theodora was born about 1871, so I assume Levi died sometime after that, and before 1880, as Amanda shows up in 1880 census as a widow. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mary

Looking for descendents of John and Fannie Ivey of Emporia, VA

John and Fannie Ivey were my great-grandparents. We are looking for all descendents so we can settle Grampa Ivey's estate! He died in January of 1956, leaving his property his wife for her life, and then to his (many) children jointly. There's still an undeveloped piece of property near the center of town, along with the "home place" house.

My branch of the family has been paying the taxes and providing upkeep. But we really need to find all the heirs and settle this estate. It's been 50 years!!!

Contact me if you are related.
Francis Ivey of Brunswick & Henry Counties, VA

I am working on a connection to Francis Ivey who traveled west at the same times and to the same places as other members of my Ivie line. I believe he is one of the four sons of Hardy Ivey in Brunswick Co, VA, based on postings by other researchers; but I can't find a marriage or death record for him. He is in Brunswick & Henry Counties, VA, in the late 1700s and then travels westward. (He is not the Francis Ivy in Bladen, NC; they can both be found separately through the years.)

In the 1820 census, Francis (45 up), Gilbert (26-45), and John Ivy (26-45) are all listed in the Henry Co, VA, census.

In the 1830 census, there is a Francis Ivy in Mercer Co, KY; he and a female are both 70-80 years old. Gilbert Ivy, 40-50, lives nearby. John Ivie, my ancestor, 30-40, lives in neighboring Anderson Co, KY.

In the 1840 census, there is a male 80-90, but no female of that age, in the household of John Ivie (40-50) in Williamson Co, TN.

I cannot find Francis after 1840. If anyone can help me find anything on Francis Ivie, I would appreciate it. Thanks. Sylvia
Levi Reily/Riley Ivey/Ivy

Have finally found Levi Reily Ivey in a census. He appears in the Copiah Co., MS 1870 census. However, he is listed as Reily Poy, instead of Reily Ivy. His wife is listed as Docenia A., and children are Mary, 18; Sarah, 16; George W., 12; Bettie, 9; Lee, 6; and Forest, 3. Levi is 57, (born 1813)and wife Docenia (Dulcina/Dulcenna Amanda Wardlaw), is 37, (born 1833). It is possible that Reily could have been married before, and had other children. Does anyone have access to Alabama, Sumter Co. marriage records that show Levi Reily's marriage to Dulcenia Amanda? I was given a date of 23 Dec, 1846, but have found no proof of this. If this marriage date is correct, then Reily was 33, and Dulcenia was only 13. Reily may have had some of the older children with another spouse...can anyone help sort this out. Can anyone tell me who Levi's parents were? Any help appreciated, and I will share what I have.

Mary Allen Valentine Murphy, GGgrandaughter of Levi Reily Ivy.

William S. Ivey/Ivie family in Gwinnett County, GA

I am looking for information regarding the William S. Ivey/Ivie family who lived in Gwinnett County, GA in the 1850-1880 censuses

William S. was born abt 1808/1810 in Georgia, and married Elizabeth Allen. He was a shoemaker, a trade which he apparently passed on to his sons as well. The following are known children (according to census information):

Emily T. b. abt. 1830
Joseph R. b. abt 1833
George A. b. abt 1835
Sarah A. b. abt 1837
Richard A. b. abt 1839
Narcissa E. b. abt 1841
Benjamin O. b. abt 1843
Mary E. b. abt 1845
Harry M. b. abt 1846
Ramsey B. b abt 1848
Legenia b. abt 1850

My husband is related to the George A. Ivey line ... in 1860, George A. is married to Sarah E. and they hae three daughters ... Sarah F., Martha E., and Lillie A.

Somewhere between 1860 and 1873 (the year George dies in Shelby County), they up and move to Shelby County, Indiana. They have additional children, most of whom are born in Georgia, including James T., Sherman, Wesley, and Emma.

I believe that Sarah E. married to George is Sarah Elizabeth Mauldin (or some variation).

If anyone has any additional information, please feel free to contact me off list. I've been working on this particular line for about three years now, and just had the Georgia connection break through yesterday.

Thanks so much!

Marianne Spencer
Indianapolis

Richard E. Ivey b. 1887 Texas d. abt 1918 Texas

Hi everyone.

I haven't posted about my Ivey line in years, but I need some help.

I have a great grandfather, Richard E. Ivey, b. 1887 in Texas. He shows in the 1910 US Census living in Lamb County, Pct. 1, married to Estelle b. 1889, and listed as a farmer. They have one child, Earnest W. Ivey, b. May 1909.

Richard then disappears, I presume he died between 1915 and 1918, as Estelle Ivey is listed in the Fort Worth City Directories 1909-1918 as "Widow of Richard E. Ivey."

Estelle Ivey married W. C. Gregson on July 20, 1918 in Tarrant County. She appears in the 1920 US Census as Estelle Gregson, living with daughter Lillian Ivey, b. 1912, and son Rufus Ivey, b. 1915.

Rufus Ivey is my grandfather, who died in 1995. Not much is known about his family, although he claimed his grandfather was a Cherokee Indian. There are Ivey's in the Indian Territories to make this possible.

Does anyone have any of these indivuals in their trees? I don't have much at all to go on. Census says that both EndaldiaindrUFUS

Patrick and Dilsey/cie Ivey

Looking for the families of one; Patrick & Dilsey/cie(short for Daisy) Ivey: believe to have come in from the Georgia area, before settling in the Alabama area; says they came to Alabama with there slaveholders about 1835, from Georgia. Patrick was born Virginia about 1827 and Dilsey was born in Georgia about 1834. Pat and Dilsey were married in Union Springs, Alabama and had (10) children born to them, they were: Joe Ivey(my 3rd great-grandfather), Elias, Gus, Thad, Amos, Emerline, Mitchell, Ann, George, and Sandy. According to records; Patrick Ivey was the first freed slave to purchase his land there in Alabama; about 120 acres from G. W. Delbridge. Now this is where this gets confusing: some of there children born were born into slavery and others born free; making them hard to track. So if anyone else doing research from Georgia and the Alabama on the Ivey families and knew or know of any other of there descendants. Would love to connect and finish the pieces of this family. They have been somewhat of my brick-wall; not being able to connect more of this puzzle together. Thanks!

I am looking for information on Winney (sp?) Ivey who was supposedly a Cherokee Indian. Not sure when she was born but think it was 1802. She married William Fuget on Feb. 7, 1821 in Wilkes Co., NC. I think they had 3 daughters - Susanna, Ludema and Debbie. They may have lived in Grayson County, VA at some time. I know at least some of the children and grandchildren lived there.

Please help. I am at a dead end and can find nothing on Winney and William Fuget prior to and after their marriage.

Thanks in advance.
