I am looking for documentation on the ancestors of Francis Ivins who married a Mary Farraday in First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington, Del. on 4 February 1847. Francis Ivins and wife Mary had Wm. Ivins, b. Jan 19, 1849, Barclay Ivins b. Jan. 15, 1854 and Francis Faraday Ivins b. Mar. 28, 1857. In a letter written in 1925 Francis F. Ivins mentions meeting a Barclay Ivins whose grandfather was John Ivins and says he thinks they are related because both their ancestors were from the area of Trinton, NJ. I have seen the Barclay Ivins name in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania branches and it seems too unusual not to be connected. The only other clue is also in the 1925 letter when Francis mentions that he never knew his grandfather because he left his home in Trinton, NJ and was never heard from again.
Francis F. Ivins served in Spanish American War and then apparently spent the rest of his life just wandering. In 1925 he was in Arkansas and says he is going to return to Arizona or New Mexico. He was known to be either a stone mason or stone carver.
I hope this rings a bell with someone who might help. Thanks for anything you might add.
