Hi Janell - I am sure there were two Mary Jabaays, since the Jabaay family branched out significantly. It would beneficial to do a search at www.genlias.nl since you have your Mary's general birthdate. The Dutch spelling is most likely Jabaaij. The website is in Dutch, but there is an option in the genealogy search engine to switch it to English. You can also check with my cousin, Carrie Blocker, who has done extensive research too. Her tree is the Blocker-Robson (or Robson-Blocker) tree on ancestry.

Hopefully this will give you a starting point. Also, have you contacted the local newspaper in Munster for your Mary's obit? It may list her parents there.

My great grandmother was Mary Jabaay, married to Peter Wiers. Please see my Oppenhuis/Wiers Tree. What confuses me is who is Mary Jabaay married to the Jansen. I remember the Jansen fruit stand on Ridge Road in Highland. Some of the Wicker Park property had belonged to Mary Jabaays father and was then given to Mary and Peter.

Hi Cheri, sorry about the long wait time, life events happen, my Grandfather was born April 10, 1891 in Munster. He died 0ct 22, 1982 in South Holland, Ill.

My sister did the research her name is Laurie Ann Beenen. I've been trying to find my records, I thought she sent me a copy, but she is the expert. My sister lives in Ada Michigan. The 1550 was in France , I don't have the documents in front of me and am going from memory (God help us). I am sorry about the delay, but my life has been a war for the past 20 years and it is finally coming to the calling and smoothing out. I don't know your email site since I haven't joined. I thought I had posted all the genealogy on this site but it may have been another, it was over 12 years ago.

Hi, my name is Robert S. Jabaay the son of Stan Jabaay and grandson of William Jabaay. Rev. Albert Jabaay was my dads Uncle Al. My sister Laurie Ann (Beenen) researched our name and I have the documents but I haven't added anything to the family tree because there is more then 10 pages of ancestry name links that she gave me. I will try to get them posted as a project. Now to find where I put them.

Mary Jabaay-Jensen is my 2 great grandmother. Mary married Garritt Jensen and lived in Munster. My great grandmother was Nellie "Peachie" Jabaay who married Simon Blocker.

I grew up in Munster living on the same farm land as my great grandfather settled. That land today is all single family homes. My dad had 2 brothers and a sister. I have no brothers or sisters but my wife and I have 7 children and 25 grand children. We currently live in Lansing, Illinois just about 1.5 miles from the Munster Jabaay homestead. The original Jabaay house is still being lived in but has been remodeled somewhat.
I would be interested in learning more about my heritage.

Hey, just found the site. Howdy Don, About Bill and Mabel, they lived next door to Dingman and Dinah, my grandparents, but they were not their children. Dingman & Dinah's children were Julius, Alice, Peter and Helen. Bill was the son of one of the other brothers. I'll look up the lineage that I received from Helen's oldest daughter, Diane.

Their son, Gerrit Wiers, married Effie Kikkert. They lived in Munster, In., Highland, IN and Lansing, IL. I do have a tree started on "ancestry.com" under Oppenhuis/Wiers. My great grandfather, Peter Wiers. married Mary (Marie) Jabaay June 30, 1875 in Crown Point, Indiana, USA.

Their son Gerrit Wiers Married Effie Kikkert. They were my grandparents. I have most of the information (but not everything) posted on ancestry.com under Oppenhuis/Wiers. I have met your mother and father. Your grandfather Dingaman Jabaay was my grandfather's brother. I would like to visit with you some time. I have the Jabaay family geneology all the way back to the early 1500's. I am living just outside of Fennville, Michigan. Does your family still live in Kalamazoo? Hope you are having a great day!

Ank: Thanks for the reply. My cousin has since found Mary's father, Arie Jabaaij born 12-08-1818. Arie had 2 brothers - Peter and John. . Their father's name was Dingaman Jabaay. Dingaman immigrated from Styin, Holland and settled in Munster in 1855 . Can you provide the ancestral history for Arie, Peter & John?

My dad was Andrew Jabaay and he was your mother's 1st cousin. Your grandfather, Dingaman, and my grandfather, Leonard, were brothers. I have spoken several times with your parents.

I do have the geneology of our Jabaay family. The recorded family tree goes back to about 1520 AD. If you would like it just let me know.

Lisa Walters is the "webmaster" for the Jabaay family bulletin board. Lisa is my 1st cousin Len's daughter. She would also be related to you.
