Heinrich Robert Carl Jablonsky born approx 1877 in Klein Schlafken , East Prussia was a goldminer in South Africa. On the 22/08/1914 he was taken prisoner by the British and put into a concentration camp at Roberts' Heights. This left his wife and children destitute in fact his wife begged to be put into the camp with her husband. A letter dated June 1919 states that he was still in the camp and that his wife Frederika Louisa Jablonsky (nee Kallweit) along with their children Waldemear Robert Jablonsky (19) Helena (14) Euphemia (13) and Irene (8) would be repatriated to Germany on the understanding that they were never to return to South Africa. I know what happened to Waldemear Robert Jablonsky as he was my husbands grandfather but we do not know what happened to the rest of the family apart from Heinrich Robert Carl Jablonsky. He died alone in Springkell Sanatorium, Germiston, South Africa on 27th Feb 1938 of Phthisis, a disease he had while in the concentration camp. On his death certificate it says that," There are said to be children in Germany, last known address Stadtwiese 171 Essen, Ruhr, Germany-Names Unknown" How sad is that. If anyone knows what happened to the girls I'd be very happy to hear from them.
