I have traced the Yackels in Texas back to
John Jackel and Margeret Reitz. They had
several children, two of which changed the
spelling to Yackel. I know they were in
Colorado county Texas by 1870. I believe
they were in Bastop Co. in 1860, however I
still have to verify that. John Jackel was
born about 1820, so this still leaves about
40 years of his life unknown. On John and
Margaret's marriage record his parents are
listed as being from Prussia, hers from
Cassel, Bavaria. His parents were Johann
Jackel and Otillia Watz. I'm wondering if
came to Texas via another state or from Prussia.
If any one knows of a line of Jackel's that
moved to Texas, I would love to hear from you.
