Marcie:
It is certainly plausible that "our" Robinson Jacklin took part in the 1837 Rebellion. My uncle Alvin Jacklin (grandson of Robinson's son William Jacklin) wrote in 1994 that Robinson had a shoemaker shop in Richmond Hill for a time. This agrees with Andrew's death record which shows his birth place as Richmond Hill (although his marriage record says Markham Twp which may be more accurate). Either way Uncle Alvin also made note of William's assessment that Robinson "was quite a man for his bottle" which might have led him to Montgomery's Tavern. ;)Could you give a bit more information about the book you found?
