SALEM, OR: Richard Lee Jackson, 70, of Salem, Oregon, passed away unexpectedly on May 5, 2013 peacefully in his sleep.
Richard was born in Mansfield, Ohio (Richland County) on August 22, 1942.
He served in the Vietnam War as a paratrooper and MP in the United States Air Force.
Richard worked as a truck driver for most of his adult life.
In his younger years he raced dirt bikes and enjoyed small engine repair work.
He also enjoyed fishing and watching the car races on TV.
Richard is survived by his brother, Roger and sister, Barbara; three step children, Debbie, Lori, and Brian; eight grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, Kyle, Derek, Noah, Zachary, Travis, and Joshua; and four great grandchildren, Tayven, Piper, Presley, and Kaden; and many other family members and friends.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Carmay, (her death was March 22, 2013); his parents Jasper and Evelyn Jackson; his brother Dave; his daughter Denise; and his step-daughter Robin.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on June 22, 2013 at City View Funeral Home and Cemetery.
