Regarding those Jacksons from Marion Co., SC. they are a pesky bunch to track. Mine are the John Marshall and Erastus, Drucilla, Charles J, Rebecca and Anne who all moved from Marion to Barbor Co Al in 1860 or so.,They are listed in the 1860 AL census twice, with one bro the listed head in one, and visa versa.
The name Manning was big around Marion. One of my Jackson sons was named Ottway Manning HJackson. I have tried and tried to find their dad, to no avail. A lady on the net sent me a copy on a school district book that had my kids listed in it, but listed their mom, and no mention of the dad.
Absalom Jackson was the uncle??? of my family. I believe they stayed with him, while his bro(James) died. We don't know for sure, because there is so many James' and Johns ect.
If you would like, I will later go and dig out my stuff and send you what I know. I believe we are most probably somehow connected, but not by much. Joi Smith
