Hi Maureen,

I am Ann Jacob from Lullymore, Co. Kildare.
Just recently myself and my cousin from Mayo have started
research on our family name Jacob. The following is what we have found so far and it may be of some help.

We have located three Jacob brothers, Christopher, James, John, in the Drumsru area (just a few miles from Lullymore, Sheanavoola/Lullybeg) as follows;

Christopher Jacob(who is the great grandfather of the Mayo/Sligo branch of Jacob) - married Ellen Brock, Cappinargid, Rathangan, Kildare Parish. They had the following children - Michael, John, Peter, Maria, Kate, Elizabeth, Rose.

- Michael Married Margaret Hanlon 9th May 1889/Born 1864(aged 47 - 1911 census) - their children -
Christopher, Mary Ellen, Julia Anne, Elizabeth, Catherine, Kate, Margaret born 1897, Margaret born 1898, Elizabeth born 1899.

- John - emigrated to USA
- Peter - emigrated - married Isabella Costello, Kilmore, Kilkelly, Co. Mayo. Their children - Valentine, Regina, Lillian.

James Jacob (who is the great grandfather of the Lullymore branch of Jacob) - married Bridget Callan of Drumsru, 17th May 1894 (born 1873 aged 38, 1911 census)
They had the following children, Michael,
- Michael married Ann McCann 17th May 1894(born 1873 aged 38 - 1911 census)their children -
- James, Mary Kate, John, Bridget, Michael, Ann.
- James married Ann O'Shea, Milltown, Newbridge
- Mary Kate - married John Benton, Dublin
- John married in Bermingham, England
- Bridget lived in Dublin - Spinster
- Michael lived in Dublin - Bachelor
- Ann lived in Dublin - Spinster

John Jacob (who is the great grandfather of the Allenwood branch of Jacob) - married Ellen Ennis of Barnaran and lived in Sheanavoola/Lullybeg.
They had the following children - John, Michael, James, Philip, Thomas, Ellen, Mary, Kate.

Having discovered the three brothers, one must assume that there were more in the family. Currently we are trying to locate where they originated from. It is believed that the Kildare Jacob family originally came from the Wexford/Waterford region. We are presently trying the link in with other Jacob families in Ireland and hopefully we will make the link.
