this Charles Jacobs was convicted of stealing 2 watch cases in 1820 in England. He was sent to Tasmania in 1825ish and assigned to a Mr Ruffey. He married Mary Ann Thyer/Dwyer? who came to Tasmania on a bride ship about1842.They were married in about 1836 and had several children. I think Charles, Edward, John george, Amelia Ann, Mary Ann, Samuel, Henry,George, Eliza and Frederick and others who died young. I believe they resided at Pretty Plains for many years and he died at Lymington . It has been so far impossible to find any details of these fine people. I believe Charles Edward, who married a Lucy Heath, their eldest son to be my great grandfather, their daughter, Isobel Annie Jacobs married Arthur Spurway Smith in1885 in Tasmania and they emigrated to New Zealand, between 1886 and 1887 . I have a full family tree, details and photos etc. of the Arthur Spurway Smith / Isobel Annie Jacobs New Zealand family.
