Halo daar, my naam is Dawid Conrad Jacobs, ek woon in Clanwilliam in die Wes Kaap. Is dit so?

Thank you for this information. However, the missing link is where he was BORN. Just because he was a landowner in SC does not support his date of birth. Our line of the family has always said he came from NC to GA. That is what I am seeking. No one seems to know his wife's name or her family. He is listed by some as a REV. Soldier (RS). I have not located that either. So, the details you listed are also part of our family's oral history, but there are so many Shadrack's listed in NC I tend to think, with land sales, etc., he certainly could have been from there, and then moved.Any other research would be very helpful for these gaps. Dr. Sandra Jacobs Shockley, Brantley Co. originally. dau of Horace Thomas Jacobs, son of E.F. Jacobs

Snippits I have accumulated over the years:
Shadrach Jacobs came from Fairfield County, South Carolina to Wayne County, Georgia in 1809/10. He lived there until 1829 when he was returned to South Carolina, tried, convicted and hung for a murder that he committed before he moved to Georgia. The jury that convicted him recommended that the judge have mercy on him, but the judge stated that it was up to his Maker to determine any mercy. This crime occurred when an attempt was made to arrest him on a misdemeanor warrant. Information in the Winnsboro, SC Genealogy Library indicates that the State of Georgia requisitioned his body. It is not known where he and his wife are buried.

SCMAR, Vol. XVI, Spring 1988, No. 2, p.85
Pages 108-109 - Henry (H) Nelson, planter, to Shadrack Jacobs, both of Fairfield Co., for 25 pds. sterling, various livestock, all household furniture and plantation tools, corn, fodder, etc. (page torn). Dated 5 Jan. 1791. Wits: Thomas Nelson and William Alexander. Bill of sale proved by Thomas Nelson 10 May 1791 before Sam. W. Yongue, J.P. Recorded 19 May 1791.

SC Magazine Ancestral Research, Vol. II, Winter 1974, No. 1, p.39
Shederick Jacobs was hung the 19th of June in Winnsborough for the murder of Teaster 25 years ago. He was 72 years of age.

In Georgia Shadrach served as Justice of Peace, 5th District, Wayne County, 1817-1825, also militia captain in the same district, 1816-1821. He was a private in the War of 1812, serving in the company of Wayne County Militia under Capt. Isham Walker, 181-1814. His son, John, married Capt. Walker's daughter, Keziah. Shadrach and his wife were members of the Big Creek "arm" of High Bluff Primitive Baptist Church.

From a Feaster Family History

"Andrew Feaster, Jr. ... died January 25, 1808, being shot by mistake for Ezekiel Woolley, his brother-in-law, who was the Sheriff. The latter had summoned a posse to assist in capturing a criminal, Shadrack Jacobs, by name, and Andrew Feaster, Jr., was one of the number. It was after dark, and Jacobs shot Andrew, who was riding the Sheriff's white horse, and had on the sheriff's hat. Twenty years later, he was brought back from Texas {sic} and was hung in Winnsboro for the crime. He, Jacobs, stated that he had supposed the rider of the white horse to be Wooley, whom he had sworn to kill, and regretted deeply having shot Andrew Feaster."

The date of birth and the last Rev. War battle do not match up and he is listed as a Rev. War soldier. I have pondered and searched and find a major discrepancy. Any other ideas? Our family noted he came from NC to SC, leaving his family, due to an incident with the Sheriff. This is oral history. When he relocated to SC, it is our understanding that he took another wife and had more children. This far back, things can be recorded incorrectly or in our case , passed down incorrectly, but I do not think so. His grandson was my gg grandfather, and my father heard the incident directly from him. If you can enlighten me with more info. that would help me untangle some fact from fiction. Sincerely, Dr. Sandra Jacobs Shockley (GA)

Before he lived in Wichita he lived in Iowa where he had 3 children with Lucy. Lucy died in 1876. He had one daughter, Louette, with Nellie while living in Wichita. He was in the MO.
Wilber Jacobs of Harmony, Maine

Seeking information on the parents and family of Wilber W. Jacobs, born April of 1850 (1900 census) and married about 1869 to Eunice Perkins. He first appears in the 1880 census in Harmony with his wife, son Leslie, and a half-brother William Wyman who was born 1860. Wilber lived more than 50 years in Harmony and died there in 1935. His son Leslie's marriage record says Wilber was born in Fairfield, Maine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Isaac Isaac Jacobs-Middlesex (Aldgate/Whitechapel area), England at least 1861-1891+ (originally from Poland)

I am interested in the Jacobs family, because of an entry in the 1891 census. You have a Dorah/Deborah Jacobs on your original post, although the date of her birth is too late to relate to the 1891 entry.

This is that of a Dorah Jacobs at 15 Tenter Street, whitechapel. She is given as aunt of someone I am researching, who is staying with her that year, Esther Polak. As are three brothers born in London and New York, surnamed Sansieme. This Esther married into my ancestral family in 1899, to David Opperman. She would have been one of two Esther Polaks born in 1871. Either to Jacob and Rosa, or to Morris and his wife ( I didn't note down the wife's name, and I suspect it to be the first couple are her parents, but I could be wrong.)

Anyway, Dorah (could her name be also rendered as Deborah?) Jacobs appears to have been widowed before 1881, as she is there with daughter Sarah in Spitalfields in 1881. That's about as far as I have got, but I wonder if they might fit into your ancestral family.

Terry

He changed his last name to JACOBS here in the U.S. I know nothing more about John.

Does anyone have any information about this family?

Helen ... You are wonderful! Thank you! It is the correct family. I already have the 1920 and 1930 census.

What I'm really looking for is the family back in Ireland! I don't know John's parents, siblings, or anything else about his family or his wife's family, Elizabeth Ann Pierce.

Thank you for your efforts!
