Hi! I just couldn't help but share something on this page as I found it amazing to know that there are a lot of other Jacots in the US, and are not even Filipinos. I now live in Chicago, however my roots came from the Philippines. My great grandfather Domingo Jacot was of Spanish descent. Not surprising at all - since the Philippines was under Spanish rule for 300 years after Magellan discovered the islands in 1521. My cousin Joel in NY once told me that the Jacots originally came from Europe, and long time ago I also found the surname Jacot in the dictionary of British surnames.
I presume the Indira who wrote here is the daughter of my cousin Nestor from California. In the Philippines, our Jacot family's home is in Camiguin Island, a volcanic paradise island in Mindanao, south of Cebu and northeast of Cagayan de Oro City. Since the 70s, a number of my Jacot relatives migrated to this country. I do have a family tree of the Jacots from Domingo Jacot married to Onofra Elago to one generation after me, or 5 generations. Indira is in the 5th generation on my family tree. I find this journey and search exciting, and you, having read and responded to this page is an indication that you feel the same way too.
