Joseph Jadwin / MAry Van Hooser

Posted: 17 Nov 2008 8:36AM GMT
Classification: Query
Surnames: Jadwin Hoffman Huffman VanHooser
My GGG Grandparents were Joseph JADWIN (1782 -1858) and Mary VAN HOOSER (ca 1788 or 9, Montgomery CO, VA - Nov 1854 (56?), MO). They married 26 July 1806. Mary’s parents were Isaac VAN HOOSER (1762-1831) and Margaret HUFFMAN / HOFFMAN. I know a lot about the Van Hooser line (it has two US presidents in it) but nothing about the Hoffmans.

Mary and Joseph Jadwin's Children:
Margaret (ca1811-1848)
Winchester (ca1813-<1850)
Alexander (1815-1894)
Mary Ann (ca1820-<1861)
Elizabeth C. (ca1822-<1889)
Valentine “Tine” (1824-1886)
Martin Carrol (1826-1898)

Below are some references I have regarding “a” Joseph Jadwin but I do not know if they all pertain to “my” Joseph:

- Wilson County TN Tax list for 1807 has three Jadwins: Jeremiah, Solomon, and Joseph.

- Joseph Jadwin was commissioned a Lieutenant in the TN 17th Regiment on 28 Sep 1811 (a Wilson County Regiment as of 26 Oct 1799). “My” Joseph Jadwin would have been about age 29.

- Joseph Jadwin was in the 1820 census of Warren Co, TN; in 1840 census of DeKalb Co TN; in 1850 census of Texas Co, MO.

I would love to exchange data and am especially looking for information about the Hoffmans and about Joseph Jadwin’s ancestry.
