Classification: Query
Surnames: Jadwin, Sortore
Kim...

Sortore line: "Sometime before 1730 Jacob and Catherine Sortore came to this country from the Palatine region of Germany. They and their family first settled in Somerset County, New Jersey. They had at least four children and most probably five. Other spellings of the name include SORTOR, SORTER, SARTOR, and SALTER. At the present time we have been able to find over 8,000 descendants and spouses".

I have three Sortore-Jadwin marriages:
1) Anna Matilda Sortoro married George L. Jadwin.
2) Her brother, George Sortore, married Jane M. Jadwin, George Jadwin's sister.
3) Hanford H. Sortore, who married Lucinda Alice Jadwin, another sister of George Jadwin, was a cousin to Anna Matilda Sortore and George Sortore.

1850 Census lists George Jadwin, husband of Anna Matilda Sortore Jadwin, in Elmira, Chemung Co., NY, as Blacksmith.

I find a Leon Jadwin in this line but in my records, his genealogy differs from the information you posted.

My notes have him as the son of James Adelbert Jadwin, born in Belmont, Allegany County, NY. James Adelbert Jadwin is listed as the brother of William Howard (sic) Jadwin.
My source for much of this is

I also have Leon married to a woman named Josephine and a person of this name buried in Golden Gate National Cemetery San Mateo, CA.

She would have to have seen military service or be the widow of a veteran to be buried there.

Conflicts and confusion. Sort this out for us.
