CHILLICOTHE: James E. Jadwin, 81, of Chillicothe, Ohio passed away peacefully in his sleep Tuesday morning, October 25, 2011
He was born July 16, 1930, in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Clarence E. and Ella May Jadwin.
Surviving are children, Melanie Burgan, Sherri (Dave) Ben, Kim (Tom) Kellough, Kelly (Mark) Hansel, Brad (Kim) Jadwin and Stacie Copley, all of Chillicothe, Ohio; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Harry G. (Barb) Jadwin, of Zanesville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Steven James Jadwin; and a sister, Annalee Sorenson.
James served in the U.S. Army.
He loved his family, fishing buddy family and his American Legion baseball family.
James absolutely loved the North Woods of Wisconsin.
He had many friends, including special friends, Bob Hoffman, Art Devore, Leo Woods and Dick Stewart.
James was a member of the Association of Professional Baseball Players of America through the Cleveland Indians Organization from 1948 - 1951.
He was also a member of the American Legion Post 757 where he was past commander.
He was instrumental in creating the Legion Baseball Program and the Legion Baseball field for over 40 years.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 29, 2011 in Brookside Church with Rev. David Dean and Rev. Jack Norman officiating.
Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.
Friends may call at Brookside Church from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday or one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
